Mets DL Team

12 players from my 40 man roster on the DL....meaning I only have 28 players I can use to field a roster. Do you hear that ExCo?

Still working on my DL lineup, but so far:

Lineup:
LF - Endy Chavez
CF - Reed Johnson
OF - Willy Taveras
RF - Xavier Nady
3B - Troy Glaus
1B - Nick Johnson
SS -
2B - Esteban German
C - Ramon Hernandez, Ryan Hanigan

May not be start studded, but I'm looking at either having to drop players I don't want to drop so I can field a rotation at this point.

John, the rules don't require you to have 25 active players, just 25 players in the database. I assume that you're referring to DL spots, but I just figured that I'd mention that since I'd seen the minimum requirement referenced in the other thread.

Also, for what it's worth, I've had about 22 active players for most of the season, and I'm getting by.

So a team can play with less than 25 players? I just assumed that would be a no-no, since a team like myself could run 19 active players out and really screw up the penant race for another team.

This may have to be addressed in the offseason.

Unless you are intentionally leaving your better players out of the lineup in order to tank or directly impact games there really isn't anything wrong with playing with only 19 or so active players. Typically, and I believe how Brett is doing it (and I've done it at times this season) is have a small or no bench and a regular number pitching staff. All it does is prevent the SIM manager from making substitutions that sometimes appear idiotic at the time.

It really just comes down to your regular position players that start the game finish the game. If you don't want to play the platoon split game and don't get a chance to live SIM many games, it is a viable strategy, IMO.

If it's clear that somebody is not trotting out their best lineup and intentionally looking to lose, it will be addressed immediately with that particular GM, 25 players or 19 players or 23 players or whatever.

There's nothing to really address in the offseason regarding that.

My point is that if I only have 7-8 active pitchers because the rest of my roster is injured or uncarded.

Obviously, it's not my intention to only run out 7-8 pitchers, but after many injuries, if there's not a rule in place for me to run out a full pitching staff, I'm not going to cut players I don't want to cut just to fill in my active roster.

The current rule actually works better for me, but I can see how the Nationals would get mad when Daniel Cabrera throws 160 pitches for me and gets rocked by the Marlins because I don't have any arms that can pitching in the pen.

You don't have to have 25 active players, but as I undestand it you're still supposed to have 10 active batters and 10 active pitchers. i.e. You could got with 20 active, but it'd have to be 10/10.

Thanks for assuming the worst, but that's not the case. I wouldn't say that we catch every situation the second it happens, but we've addressed several this year. We had a quick discussion on it last month: viewtopic.php?t=2142

Jim even made a point to make it clear so that no one misunderstood the rule when we voted:

Note that it does not say 25 active players so I do not expect to see any arguements that this proposed rule handicaps a team dealing with a rash of injuries.

Guess I didn't pay attention since I never intend to field less than 25 men / 10 pitchers at any time that I'm able to send an MP...

That was before half my roster got injured.

Coming into the season, if you would have told me Stick Johnson & Luis Castillo would have been my two healthiest players, I would have blown my team up in April.

Oh....and Stick Johnson is borderline DL....so go ahead and kick me in the nards.
