Dan Haren is being traded to Arizona for Carlos Gonzalez, pitchers Brett Anderson, Greg Smith and Dana Eveland, outfielder Aaron Cunningham and first baseman Chris Carter.
The Diamondbacks will send closer Jose Valverde to the Astros in exchange for infielder Chris Burke and reliever Chad Qualls, according to MLB.com.

I just don't see how this deal makes sense for the A's. They were ludicrously unlucky with injuries last year, and since the Angels failed to grab Cabrera if the A's were to sign Barry Bonds (which they could do for a seriously undermarket deal) and could get even 10-15 starts out of Rich Harden they could easily take the division, and with the Giants being so piss poor and it not looking like it will get better anytime soon the A's have a rare opportunity to squeeze by the Giants as the premiere team in the area, which is a title they held pretty much from the 70's until 1993 when the Giants signed Bonds. Wolff is a smart guy with a ton of money, I'm surprised he didn't want to make the investment in winning.
