Mitchell Report

Post by Rockies »

The Mitchell Report hasn't come out yet, and it's amazing that up until about 20 minutes ago there haven't been any major leaks. But now as big a name that could be on the list has been leaked to the press...Roger Clemens. There are sure to be more prominent players, former Cy Young/MVP winners, world series champions, that may affect the answer to this question. But as people are so quick to boot Barry Bonds out of the hall of fame, do you think the rocket will face the same scrutiny heading into the hall?

From someone who got it from someone who got it from someone. I'm not getting an answer on it, so can't vouch for if it's accurate.

Doesn't appear to be any real shockers on there. Wonder if the report is going to get specific on what each player is/was supposedly taking (Andro, HGH, etc.).

Alot of those names have already come up. The Rocket man is very interesting though......will be interesting to see how it impacts his future HOF status, as others here have noted.

Roids had an odd affect on El Guapo. Instead of roid rages, they gave El Guapo the munchies.

Prior is sorta interesting. I was under the impression that HGH helps you rehab faster.

Pettitte?

Ramon Castro is just fat...I coule believe he ate some Roids by accident, since he eats every thing....same goes for big Mo..

im not suprised, but its a shame that some of the younger upcoming players, (not that hes upcoming) but i mean this next generation of players, howard, pujols, reyes, etc...would learn their lesson from the last generation's mistakes

Huh? Howard and Reyes aren't on this list, first of all...

Even today, MLB's drug testing is an embarassment compared to other sports. Look at that list above - if that holds true, that's IT for players they were able to identify. You think they were the only ones? If a player can make himself bigger, faster, stronger to make himself more money - you think he won't do it, regardless of history? You are thinking WAY too rosey if you think players today aren't all about making as much money as fast as possible, as opposed to their place in history.

CNBC is reporting the same list with a bit more depth on the schedule of events at http://www.cnbc.com/id/22243678. They indicate the full Report, which they say they had not yet read, totaled 304 pages plus exhibits.

Since baseball did not have an agreement to ban steroids until September 2002 and did not have testing with penalties until 2004 nor did it ban HGH until 2005 it will be interesting to see the dates of some of the alleged use ...

Z i know they werent on the list, i just was implying that class of players. And I agree with you that players are doing whatever they can to make money faster, but now they are taking a much smarter approach. Players were way to arrogant to think that they could go around buying steroids the way they did and expect nobody to eventually come out and speak.

I also find it hard to believe that they only came up with 50-80 names. They spent 30-40 million dollars on this investigation and thats all they came out with. The totals have to be in the hundreds.

If they spent more than ten bucks on this investigation, it was a waste of money. Who gives a crap?

Agreed.

Improve the leagues testing for performance enhancing drugs going forward and just live with the fact that we've witnessed the "Steriod Era" in baseball.

At this point it is all about politics and perception.

I'm sure they uncovered names well into the hundreds, but the names will be released will be names they can directly link to a purchase or a take...

Remember that the Feds gag-ordered their witnesses so they couldn't talk to Mitchell. That being said, Barry is going to beat this rap.

No Pujols anywhere as far as I can find. Sosa is mentioned once. It says he was sent a letter and he didn't respond. That's it. Hardly incriminating. Not finding Varitek either.
