Best Farm System?

Post by Marlins »

Ok guys, park your egos at the door, I don't give a crap about your prospects. This is meant as a discussion about big league farm systems. More specifically, initial player scouting of teams.

Here's what I was thinking, if you took the top 10 players at each position, then made a list of the team that originally signed him, which team would have the most players?

For those of you bored out there, post a list of your opinion on top 5 at C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, top 15 OF, top 25 SP, and Top 15 RP. (This would give us 40 hitters and 40 pitchers) Now, how you judge "top" 5 is up to you. For instance, would you put someone like Alex Gordon in top 5 3B based on potential? Would you put Omar Vizquel in top 5 SS based on his career? I know there would be no concensus on how to judge, so just make your list as you see fit. I'll make a composite Top 5 per position and see what teams have the best scouting.

Also, since I imagine it would take most people a while to make a list like this, I'd be curious what teams everyone thinks will score the best in this method. My initial thought might be Florida or Oakland.
