GM Vacancies

Post by Cardinals »

This is what my co-worker typed up, since Pat wanted to hear about him:
Hi all,

My name is Ian and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to join this league. From what I was told, this is the league I've been trying to find for the past 4 years, but first a little about me.

I've been playing fantasy baseball since my first season back in 2007, when Lance Berkman and a little luck played a big role in my first title. More recently these days, I'm more about the long term leagues that generally have far more detailed rules. A couple examples:

A few years ago I took over a team in a contract based league where future outlook, keen trading, and a little luck drive the league and without any future planning you can't hope to be successful. I'm excited to hit the draft next year with 85% of my roster on team friend contracts, a ton of cap space and some big name players available.

Last year, I had the opportunity to replace a manager in a long-standing dynasty league who finished 14th of 16 the prior year. Somehow I managed to write the cinderella story and win the title on the backs of drafting Kyle Schwarber in our prospect draft and acquiring J.D. Martinez, Zack Greinke, Josh Donaldson, and A.J. Pollock from different managers in different deals throughout the season. So if you're looking to trade, always keep me in mind.

A majority of the leagues I'm in use stats that are truer to a players actual value (subbing AVG for OBP), having negative categories for CS, K's, BB's for pitchers, BS, and in the aforementioned dynasty above, we use outfield specific positions, but what I'm most excited about is being able to have the defensive capabilities of a player have an actual impact.

So lastly a quick note on me as a person, I'm very analytically driven. There are a few players that I'm biased toward (don't we all have some?), but almost every time, logic is going to win out for me. In college (just a short 4 years ago), I based an entire paper for my econometrics course on determining what statistics/attributes influence a pitcher's salary the most, so you can say I'm passionate about baseball. Hey, a B+ isn't bad, right? Oh, I'm also a Phillies fan, so for whatever that's worth!

If you want to know more about me or talk trades once I take over the day-to-day, feel free to email me, ianschnaufer11@gmail.com

I don't like him for Minnesota -- would prefer we keep the smart ones in the NL -- the weaker league. Kidding. As long as he doesn't trade anyone good to JP ever, I'm totally on board. He looks solid.

Agreed, looks very solid. His other fantasy leagues aren't a time concern?

Nah, he told me he's been looking for something more than fantasy for awhile. Think this will end up supplanting his fantasy leagues. I know the IBC ended up doing that for me at least.
