Openings

Post by Cardinals »

ExCo decided early this week to remove Walter from his position with the Marlins. He simply wasn't invested in the league: he had a pick skipped within weeks of joining the IBC, waited a month to send his first MP, then sent in the wrong team's MP not once, but twice. He's a lot going on, and it doesn't seem like he could juggle the IBC into his routine. No harm, no foul, and all the best to him.

That gives us two openings - Miami and Minnesota. Obviously, the Twins are a very different situation than the Marlins. We're considering bringing a GM for the Twins as well as the Marlins, with the thought being we're not really doing Andrew a service by letting his team run on auto-pilot all year. He spent a lot of time getting that team to where it is, and it seems wrong to just let a year go by without adds, drops or trades.

That said, if it's something that's overwhelmingly opposed to by everybody, then we can still just run it on autopilot for the remainder of the season.

I have photoshop again (horray!), so I'll be sure to update the main IBC logo, as well as send something to Shawn for the twins.ibcleague.com roster page.

With all that said, if you know anybody interested in joining the league for either team, let me know. I have a guy in mind who I think would excel, but the more the merrier to consider. If you're going to suggest somebody from another league, please make sure that the IBC will be a major focus and not just background noise.

I still have a guy who was interested last go around when Gabe's team was up for grabs. He's not in any sim leagues, so there would be a learning curve - but the other end of that would be he's not tied up in other leagues like Walter. He's a big baseball guy, and plays a lot of fantasy sports, so he's not a total noob. And I'd be willing to do some hand holding to get him going. Let me know if you want more info or want me to reach out.

I've also got a candidate in mind, never nominated someone before so I don't know the procedure but I'll put him in touch if appropriate.

I trust all 3 of you...lets just get it done. Each team needs work before the trade deadline ends in 10 weeks.

I'd have no problem handing over the Twins. I feel like I'm just going in the garage once a week and turning on a car, but I can't drive it anywhere, just making sure it still runs.
