Do you do any shopping on Amazon.com? If so, roughly how much? I was thinking that if we put a single Amazon.com ad in the upper right corner, we could use the funds to offset the hosting costs and should there be any leftover
Amazon.com pays out 4-20% of the cost of purchased items depending on the types of items ordered (4-8% on most, 20% on amazon.com .mp3s).
If we did this, would you be bothered by the ad? Would you use it?
For an example of how it might look:

I order some books and occasionally music from Amazon. I would have no problem with the Amazon ad on this website to offset costs and if it were here I would use it (infrequently - no more and no less then I do now ...)

I use Amazon frequently.

What other sites do folks use frequently? Homedepot.com? ebay?

I buy all my books off amazon, I say go for it Bren. I usually spend $40 or so a month on there. Would I have to do my shopping on amazon from the little box to have it count towards us, cause if so, I'll make sure to always do that

We're basically going to sign up as affiliates on pretty much all of these sites. I'm not 100% positive on the exact methodology, but from what I know offhand, basically you'll come to the IBC site, go to the affiliates page, click the amazon button, that will take you to amazon and you shop like normal. We'll then receive a percentage of your sale back (it differs by site, varying from 1% to 12% for the sites we're looking at I think).

Best option is relative. There is no downside to signing up with all of these sites. We don't have to pick only one.

one of the plusses on amazon.com is that those of us who subscribe to Baseball America, you can order the newspaper subscription for $2 less than if you do it through BA's website (and get 4% or more to go to the IBC). Ditto the BA books are available for preorder (for $10 less!) through Amazon (again with 4% or more going to the IBC).

It varies, but here is the rate structure. It's calculated monthly.

We should have operable links soon. We are of course going to keep them as small and inconspicuous as possible.

I'll hold off on buying anything from amazon until we get the link up

There's a link up on all pages to an 'affiliates' page. Use the links to buy stuff.
I'm not asking that you buy more stuff than you normally would, just that if you're going to use these vendors, to do so through our link.
More vendors will be up when we get approval.

Half.com and newegg.com added to the affiliates page. Amazon, eBay and StubHub were already up. Look for more shortly.
Keep in mind, you're in no way required to take part, we just ask that if you were going to use these sites anyways, click through our links and continue shopping. Don't feel pressured to buy more or anything.
