Marlins GM
When Shawn gets back from vacation, we'll do the team switches, but right now Gabe's old roster is headed to Miami.
Walter Hickman from BCMBL is apparently interested in joining. What're your guys thoughts on him? He sent me this about his sim experience:
"JP,
Thanks for the consideration. I started back in 04 with the old PJBL league. I took over running that league and then it folded after the 2005 season. I then joined the BCMBL in 2008. I am a lifelong Tigers fan, married with 2 boys. I'm in another league right now that is a salary cap league. They don't use diamond mind but I think they're switching over to it. Biggest success was making the LCS but have never gotten over the hump. Biggest failure was the PJBL folding. It was a good league but things happen.

I remember the Papa John's Baseball League vaguely.

I don't "know" him as well as I do some other GMs in the BCMBL but I do know he is very active and responsive. He shared in the administrative duties. I would be in favor of Walter joining the IBC.
He does have an AL team (Oakland) in that league and as a Tiger fan I expect he favors the AL so he may request to move should such an opportunity occur --- but that is a discussion down the road a fair tad.

I'm a little fuzzy at this point but my recollection is that he wasn't a great gm or anything and the competition in that league was uneven enough that it could be a little tough to evaluate active guys (because there were ample other gms just looking for someone to rip them off), but he was active and I think was solid in that environment. I'm a little worried about Kershaw, but it'd be pretty tough to find someone we're certain would handle that situation flawlessly.

Pat G also has a friend with no sim experience that is interested in joining as well. This is what he had to say:
"So, I've been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember. I started playing when I was 5 and have followed it since. This includes the minor leagues, as I like to know how my Red Sox stack up in their farm system compared to other teams, because as Pat will tell you, we always debate how we'd make the Sox better if we were the GM. And I'm definitely interested in doing the same with the Marlins as long as the cost isn't high.
And that's my first question...does it cost anything to join? Second, in the beginning it's OK if I focus on team building to win in the long term instead of just trying to win in the short term (i.e., the Phillies, who are scrambling now to replenish the farm system)?"
I'm really indifferent right now, but I think I'd prefer to give the team to Hickman just because I feel more confident he won't screw up Kershaw.
