To the league for holding off on the whole trading thing...I mean, this has only been insanely fun being able to watch playoff baseball AND work on my team.
Why am I starting controversy when none exists?
"Why not?" is my simple response.

As a Mets fan, I'd puke if I saw Bobby V in pinstripes.
I'd love to see Dusty Baker do it...but there's a reason Tony LaRussa hasn't re-up'd with the Cards, and it's not the GM situation.

I've gotten that reaction from every Cards fan. They better hire the right GM or Tony L. will be avoiding DUI's by riding the Subway to the Bronx every day.Astros wrote:100% incorrect.Rockies wrote:As a Mets fan, I'd puke if I saw Bobby V in pinstripes.

Listening to the NY media and reading everything that I've read, TLR isn't really much of a candidate for the Yankees. His brash personality is barely tolerable in a one-paper low key media town such as St. Louis and it would not fit in at all in NY with all the spotlight, tabloids etc.Rockies wrote:I've gotten that reaction from every Cards fan. LaRussa is waiting for the GM candidates to be narrowed down before he makes his decision. St. Louis is his #1 choice and he's stated as much, but he's not going to work under somebody that doesn't want him to be their manager. If the candidates all agree that TLR should be the manager in St. Louis then he'll be back. In fact he stated that he wishes to return to St. Louis just yesterday so it's increasingly likely that he'll be back, whereas last week I would have agreed with you that he was out of St. Louis.

Little late now but I'd have loved to see Dusty Baker run the Yankees too. As someone who saw his handiwork through my entire childhood with the Giants I love the idea of unleashing Dusty on that young Yankee pitching staff, it could have set them back a decade.Rockies wrote:As a Mets fan, I'd puke if I saw Bobby V in pinstripes.

Advice from Cubbyland
... thereÃs a bit of steam to blow off from Cub-land since DustyÃs non-rehiring (which is apparently different than getting fired).Reds wrote:as a reds fan I'm pissed. if I had bailey or cueto I'd be looking to deal em now.
As a public service to the fine residents of Cincinnati, hereÃs a few quick suggestions on how to prepare for Dusty Baker:
- Buy stock in toothpicks.
- Trade Adam DunnÖyÃknow since ìwalks clog the basesî
- Trade Homer Bailey. Get some value for him before he starts throwing 130 pitches a game. The Cubs yearn for the much discussed Mark Prior trades of 2004.
- Of course, make a locker for Neifi Perez, because heÃs coming to town next season.
- Cancel all post game press conferences. Trust me, your sanity is worth it.
- Change the listed age of all young players, Keppinger, Encarcancion, Votto, etc. to at least 30. Otherwise, theyÃll never see the field.
As much as I hate Dusty, this move can only be good for my beloved Cubs who now share the division with some of the dumbest and most inexperienced managers in baseball. Plus, this has to piss off Marge Schott.
thanx to Bugs and Cranks
