Trades
So, Jake acquired Felix for Meyer and Baez today.
The second half of the deal is Jake sends COL 1, COL 2 for NYY 3, NYY 5.
The second trade logically should not pass on its own.
I have no problem with people agreeing to trades with picks in them, and then waiting for them to show up on OOPSS, but this opens a major box of problems. When is it OK to send the major part of a deal? What if I wanted to deal my 1 and 2 in April, and trade whatever to get Bautista from Shawn, with the agreement that he gets my 1, 2, 3 for his 5 at the All-Star Break?
I don't think we can allow this to happen again, and if it does, that the TRC should veto trades like that in the future. Levine and JB notified the TRC that the 1/2 and 3/5 will be part of the deal next week, but going forward, it's a problem. I don't really care about Jake getting an extra start out of King (shawn might), but, this is just going to be a major problem in coming years.

I saw that trade and definitely raised an eyebrow; the draft picks make sense and make the deal seem a helluva lot more even, but yeah, they should have been part of the same deal. Good on them for finding a loophole and Jake getting an extra start from Felix, but let's shut it down now (if only to keep the tracking of these deals much easier)

Honestly, the TRC completely screwed up here. This shouldn't have been allowed in the first place. Jake & JB didn't find a loophole, the TRC guys didn't do their job. At the least they should have come to the exco before ruling on it.I don't think we can allow this to happen again, and if it does, that the TRC should veto trades like that in the future.
