2007 Draft Discussion
The rules state:
1. Annual Rookie Drafts
A. Prior to the start of each season a universal new player draft will be held. The order will be determined by the records of the teams from the previous season with the worst team picking first. Ties will be broken by Pythagorean winning percentage, head to head record and then finally record in the last ten days of the season.
Someone who understands that should crunch the numbers. It has been years (no make that decades) since I have had to apply the Py theory to anything ...
Also, wouldn't it make sense to go with the first tie breaker being the best record in the last ten days as a means to discourage tanking?

That's an interesting idea.Mets wrote:The rules state:

Interesting idea, but it only represents the last 10 days, while Pyth represents the whole season, which IMO is more important when considering which team is weaker. Especially considering a bad team who plays a bad team late will likely have a higher L10 than a bad team who plays a good team late.
For waivers, we use Win %, Pyth %, then L10. It would probably be good to change this to be the same for both waivers and draft order.

FWIW, I picked and it hasn't yet posted on a board. It does show up on the draft results though. Also, I got this error when I made the choice:
Could not draft player (1-4-3)
