If it makes you feel better, the Phillies were in on a Kinsler/Howard deal until they informed the Rangers it was no longer 2007. No, I'm kidding...the Phillies aren't doing anything substantial this offseason.

I think this eliminates any chance the Cards work a deal for Andrus or Profar.

Also, with as much as the Tigers are effectively paying to have Kinsler (something like 4 years 92 mil?) I think this shows the Prince deal may not have been a great idea for them.

I'm confused by this deal, the Rangers do realize Prince Fielder is fat right? No way he puts up even half way decent #'s when the temperature is over 80 degrees in Texas.

Girth could be a factor for Prince in Texas. But, even after sending cash to Texas, they'll have money to sign away Nathan and work towards signing Scherzer. Plus, it allows Miggy to move back to 1b and Castellanos gets a spot. After his dismal playoff performance, he needed a change of scenery. Plus, Texas wanted him a few years ago. That short porch in RF is going to take a beating. And the Rangers can rely less on/dump Moreland.

He is a fat first baseman...but playing in the heat might help him sweat some of that fat off...if not they put him on a spit and BBQ him, should be tasty. And even if he had a bad season, will likely regress back to his average which should put him back in the 3-4 WAR range.

And if they are really playing him 1B versus DH, then he can fall back to the DH spot at in a few years...not like Texas really wanted to play Kinsler at 1B or the OF...just washing out increased defensive value with the lose of offense value from the position change.
