What does the fox say? Massachusetts!
You've probably all seen "What does the foxsay" by Ylvis, it made the internet rounds for a while.
Well, they're back.
With a song about... Massachusetts?????

I refuse to listen to the song, some of my students listen to What does the fox say and I make them turn it off because I want their IQ to stay as high as possible. Speaking scientifically, every Red Sox fan I saw in St. Louis looked like the biggest meat head, mouth breathing idiot I've ever seen. Seriously, you could look at them and just tell they weren't smart.
There's a pretty simple explanation there... you were in St Louis. Nothing good can come out of a city that brought the world Budweiser, just visiting makes people dumber.Cardinals wrote: every Red Sox fan I saw in St. Louis looked like the biggest meat head, mouth breathing idiot I've ever seen. I've lived in a lot of places, and I can tell you the single biggest difference between Boston fans, and other pro sports fans.
Most pro sports team fans delight in the successes or mourn the failures of their particular team.
Boston fans would rather rub their success in the face of the losing squad than celebrate their own victory...and then they want to immediately give up and talk shit about their own team when they lose. It's the most over-reactive, self-loathing type of fan in sports.
They're not dumb, they're just Massholes.

Oh, help... Boston fans are being Judged by a Yankees fan... help me...Nationals wrote:I've lived in a lot of places, and I can tell you the single biggest difference between Boston fans, and other pro sports fans.

Because no New York fan has EVER ripped into their team when they played poorly or rubbed victory in the face of any other fan. No, that would NEVER happen...

Your second post might be easier to swallow, in general, if you didn't post this immediately before.Padres wrote:Not true. The Sox, for instance, have never been up 3-0 in the ALCS only to blow it.Cardinals wrote:Don't forget that nobody else that's team ever lost hasn't had as bad a loss as whatever Boston team in said sport had at one point.
I'm not saying there aren't some asshole/self-loathing Yankee fans. There sure are. I'm saying that the percentage of asshole/self-loathing fans for Boston sports is way higher than on average. For example, on Aaron's great point, the Patriots and Yankees spent most of the '80's being terrible. But Yankees fans were just as bullish on rooting for their team. New England refused to believe the Patriots existed for the majority of the '80's...and especially when they got thumped in the Super Bowl.

*yawn*
So we've got a Cardinals fan and a Yankees fan passing judgment on an entire fan base as being 'horrible'. Gee, there's no irony to that at all. I especially like the bit about how Boston fans glory in the loss of the other team coming from the guy who opened up the zWS trying to tell me I wasn't really a fan. No, he's not hypocritical or full of shit at all...
Here's a little real truth for you, sports fans are generally assholes wherever you go. And they all think that other fans are worse in some way or another. In the Case of Cards and Yanks fans, they're so used to winning, they can't handle it when they get beat and someone else dishes out the smack talk, and you've both dished out your fair share over time.
Aww... The 80's were 'rough' for the Yankees? Poor Yankee fans... Please, don't even try to bring that weak shit, nobody buys it. Comparing the Pats in the 80s to the Yankees in the 80s... That's just fucking insane, we all know you're a salesman but not even Willy Loman was ever desperate enough to try to sell something that asinine.
Anybody else remember when Bren renounced his fandom in 2004 when it looked like Boston was getting swept only to break his neck jumping on the bandwagon and pretending it never happened? That's the point I brought up. Has anyone else here renounced their fandom publicly only to pull a complete 180 as soon as things turned around, and weren't 10 years old?
Bren (and I assume most other fans in that area) suffer from Bill Simmons syndrome. They're so certain that the Boston area is the only part of the country that matters, that they're super special and so their experiences are different than anyone else. You're taking shots at Z about the Yankees sucking in the 80s, how is that different than when the Celtics were bad in the 90s? I remember reading plenty of woe is me it sure is hard having a few bad years from my favorite team column from Simmons then. Oh no your team's only won a bunch of championships in your lifetime! Poor thing!
Here's the real truth Bren, you're an ass. I loved Boston sports until I met you. I know I'm not alone in that sentiment. But being exposed to you for a decade, there are few things that I hate more than Boston related sports. You're the Spike Lee of the IBC when it comes to fandom, except he didn't bail on the Knicks when they were bad. You talk a whole lot of shit, you're full of excuses when it doesn't go your way and you've never been wrong in your life. Keep living in that bubble

And on top of that...
http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/blog ... newspaper/
Your organization can't keep it's mouth shut when you win.
Just a beautiful, touching, "hey remember when you were getting over losing to us and now we're buying an ad in your paper"?
I'm also not sure how comparing the Pats & Yankees is insane, unless you're counting the fact that they both lost in the championship game, and the Patriots made the playoffs 3 times and the Yankees 2.
Here's the part you miss. I've lived all over the place, and am actually a Boston fan, to an extent. I root for the Celtics and root for the Bruins. It's my favorite city I've ever lived in. Through MLS' relationship with the Revolution, I've come to know the people at Foxborough and have an incredibly healthy respect for them. I think Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches in sports, and have even dressed up as him for the last 4 Halloween's. My best female friend's husband works in the Red Sox organization, and one of my college buddies sells suites for them (I feel like I'm trying to deny my racism by saying I have black friends right now). All my friends are Red Sox fans.
I think I'm pretty qualified to say: You are the biggest group of self-loathing, bandwagon jumping fans in all of professional sports. And, Bren, your 2004 manifesto on never rooting for the Red Sox again, as Aaron so eloquently put, is the drop the mic, end of argument cherry on top of the shit sundae.
Do I think Red Sox fans are bad people? Nope, they're my best friends. Do I think my best friends are terrible fans? Sure do.

Been to Boston many times (while dating a girl from there), lived there for a month at my old job (at the Residence Inn across the river from TD Garden). Man you people are assholes. I made some friends there and I learned to respect the people, but when it comes to sports, holy shit you're insufferable. I would rather a band of commies from China win the World Series than Boston. At least then we don't have to watch every asshole there figuratively dip their balls in the mouth of every American.
