Updated. Still pretty tight American League, and Philly/Atlanta could come down to the last weekend.

Pittsburgh clinches its fifth straight NL Central title with its win over Milwaukee tonight. It marks my sixth division title in franchise history, and seventh playoff appearance (2003 D'Backs wild card, 2004 Mets NL East title).

For those in Hartford tonight, the celebration was at Black Bear Saloon. We will repeat the celebraish tomorrow night, since the power went out at 12 am tonight. Hey, better than last week's murder. Drinks on me all night for whoever shows up. That's probably not a joke.

Arizona's win on Monday clinched Jag's fifth playoff appearance of his IBC career, which is his fourth consecutive playoff berth, his second straight NL West title, third NL West title in four years, and fourth NL West title overall.

Pittsburgh at some point in the past week also clinched home field advantage through the entire playoffs.

Well, I invite you to the NL Central or NL to step up and stop me.

Update this post. Going to be a pretty big weekend in the IBC. First and second place teams in the American League division races all face off this weekend -- Red Sox/Yankees, Royals/Tigers, A's/Rangers.

I believe I did take two out of three in our series earlier in the year...of course that is before you stacked your team even more. ;)

Yep, your series helped fuel my decision to add to my bullpen a bit.

Races post updated. Yankees retake first in the AL East.

Cincinnati clinched one of the two Wild Card spots in the National League, and lowered its magic number to 2 to host the Wild Card game.

2013 marks the fifth season since Ken joined the league in 2005 that he'll make the playoffs, making appearances as NL Central champs (Houston) in 2005, 2006, and as Wild Card champs in 2009 (Washington) and 2010 (Cincinnati). It's Ken's first trip back to the playoffs since winning the pennant in 2010 before ultimately falling to JB in the World Series.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Gritty Guttys are the first AL team to clinch a post season berth (sure hope I do better than WC2 but if not I'll be happy to be there). I'd like to thank the most ridiculous pitching staff ever assembled for getting us to this point.

The A's have a playoff spot in hand, correct.

Miami clinched the NL East last night with an 8-5 win over Washington, the 90th win of the season for Dan's Marlins. The NL East title is Dan's fifth in six years since coming to the National League, winning it in 2008 and 2009, before Nick wrestled it away in 2010. The division title marks the third straight for the Marlins as well.

The Marlins will head to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks in the NLDS, in a rematch of last year's 5-game NLDS.

Oakland is headed to the playoffs for the third consecutive season after clinching the AL West, marking the fifth time overall that Hamlin has reached the postseason. Hamlin's A's previously won the AL West in 2007, 2008 and 2011. Oakland made it to the playoffs last year with one of the two Wild Card berths.

Texas clinched a Wild Card berth with its Wednesday win. The Rangers are headed to the playoffs for the second consecutive season, after winning the AL West last year before capturing the American League pennant.

It's the fourth time Brett has gone to the playoffs -- all since the 2009 season. The then-Tigers won the AL Central and World Series in 2009 before repeating as AL Central champions in 2010. 2013 marks the first year that Brett's team has entered the playoffs as a Wild Card team.

Hamlin's Gritty Gutty A's clinched homefield throughout the playoffs in the American League, where the A's went an American League-best 50-31 this year -- a mark that the Tigers tied. Oakland will face the Wild Card game winner, while the AL East winner will face the AL Central winner in the ALDS.

It took until the 162nd game, but the playoff picture is now set.

Pat claims his first AL East title after ending the season on a 7-game winning streak. It's the third consecutive year that Tullar has made the playoffs, with his previous two appearances coming via wild card.

For the first time since 2007, JB clinches a Wild Card berth. It's amazingly the 11th consecutive season that JB has reached the playoffs -- the only time he didn't qualify was in the league's inaugural season back in 2002. The Yankees will head to Texas for the Wild Card game in the American League, in a rematch of two ALCS' that both went in Brett's favor.

Gudim held off Pat G to claim the AL Central title, winning it by two games after Kansas City won on Sunday, coupled with a Detroit loss. 2013 marks the first time Jason has ever made the playoffs in the IBC.

Lastly, Nick completed an improbable comeback over the weekend. Needing to win three straight games against the Braves, the Phillies did just that, and clinched the second Wild Card spot in the National League. It's Nick's third playoff appearance, and first Wild Card berth. Nick previously won the AL West (and IBC title) in 2002, and won the NL East in 2010. The Phillies will take on the Reds in the Wild Card game.

Database will be out before Sunday Night Football.

If you are playing h2h for the WC Game, please let me know, otherwise they will be simmed as scheduled on Tuesday, and we'll get the LDS' rolling shortly after.

Good luck to everybody, extra good luck to me.

The NLCS is a rematch of last year's, as both the Diamondbacks and Pirates advance for the second consecutive season. Last year I took Jag out in six games. It's the third straight year we've met in the playoffs, meeting in the 2010 NLDS as well.

Brett's Rangers have now won 11 straight games dating back to the regular season, and he's back in the ALCS for a second consecutive year as well.
