Daily DL Thought

Post by Royals »

I had a thought earlier about the Daily DL. What if we gave GM's the option of doing either.
hear me out...
The Weekly thing will be the default setting, but if they disable their player when the players gets Disabled in MLB and Post that they have done so, so there is a record to check, we allow them to reactivate the player the day he returns (provided the 15 day minimum is met of course) with another Post saying they have made that move as well.

Any thoughts?

Hm...not too bad an idea...
I think that it would have to be a requirement that you choose 1 way preseason and stick with that method the whole season.

After experimenting with the sim, if we input the injury and then the gm disabled the player, I can track this in the transaction logs and pull that information into OOPSS, which would allow for some good tracking...players due to go on/come off DL, stuff like that.

I don't think we should make people choose a method, if the transaction can be logged in OOPSS I think it's a great idea.

Jake, the problem then lies in that I can postpone when my players serve their injuries, kind of like how MLB players do it with suspensions/appeals. If my guy goes down on Monday but I have a big series Tues-Thurs, I can then say I'll DL him next Sunday. After looking at what I'm saying, maybe it's not really that big of a problem though.

They'd still have to miss the same amount of time. Personally, i'd prefer to use the Daily method, but i know for the first 1/2 of next season, the odds of me being able to keep up with that are going to be pretty low, since I'll be finishing my thesis. Some people may want to just try it out with the daily thing.
If we were to enact such a rule, one thing we should make clear is that whomever is doing the simming shouldn't be asked to hold off on simming a day for a team so they can get in a roster with a daily DL adjustment.

I think you need to pick one and stick with it. It will get messy otherwise.

Or maybe you should be allowed to switch from daily to weekly but not the other way around. I'm just thinking that life is going to come up for people (Z this year being the prime example) and if they get locked in to daily and then get a new job in May or something that messes with their time they should be able to switch.

I think switching monthly is a reasonable compromise between the two, although of course, a player has to come off the DL according to the same rules under which he went on the DL.

Right, I'm just saying you shouldn't be alowed to put one player on the DL as a weekly and another at the same time as daily.

Do we want to see what the league thinks of this? Any objections?

I just want to see if anyone else has anything to add before I do. We haven't heard from Brett or Jim on the issue.

I personally would prefer the daily DL ... but I am not even sure I could it for a whole season ...

I am not sure I see the benefit of melding it.

I will be interested in seeing what the league has to say though I expect the majority will want to keep it the way it is.
