Rule 5 Mock run

Post by Royals »

Should we compel participation in the Mock Draft Nate is proposing? If not everyone participates, it won't give an accurate gauge of whether his idea will work or not. I don't personally see any harm in trying it. I don't know if it will change anyone's mind or not But I'm curious to see what the results are.

I was thinking we could do a handful of GMs (say 5 or 10) each acting as multiple teams, the reality is 30 teams don't have time to mock run anything, but since it's just a mock there's no reason to have them all anyways.

There are at least a few GMs in the league who do not want to indicate a "lesser" value of some of their players (admittedly this peratins more to players in the 26 to 30 range then 45 to 50) and certainly don't want to with their prospects prior to the trades being open.

Indeed, I don't think we should do a mock draft if we have September trading. If we do one, I think it would be fine to have 5 GMs mock 6 teams each or something like that.

Absolutely not. Nate and I discussed this at length, and he is quite satisfied with using representatives to choose players. He also, at least as of when he and I talked Thursday morning, was quite happy to do this as a curiosity experiment, not as a persuasive device.

Sounds good to me. I'd be more curious to see what would come of Jagger's proposal though.

Can I call being one of the GMs participating?

You're wasting your time because I will never ever vote to support a rule V draft, so theres probably not much point to it. But hey have at it.
