Ken wants a ruling on Aaron Cook, who has a broken leg. He said there are grumblings of Cook playing if the Rockies were to make the playoffs. Here's the latest I could find:
Aaron Cook (leg) is not expected to return this season.
Not a surprise. Cook suffered a non-displaced fracture in his right fibula when he was struck by a Joey Votto comebacker on Wednesday night. The 31-year-old right-hander turned in a 6-8 record, a 5.08 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP in 127 2/3 innings for the Rockies this season.
and from Will Carroll:
A broken leg might not be season-ending? That's pretty aggressive. After seeing Cook crushed in the shin by a Joey Votto comebacker (preventable, by the way), there was little doubt that we'd seen the last of the right-hander this season. However, Jim Tracy was holding out some hope. Cook was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the fibula on his push leg. If you listen closely, you'll hear the crack of Cook's bone on this MLB video. Cook didn't have his leg planted, but the liner was probably moving at Aroldis Chapman speeds. There's very little real chance that Cook returns this season unless the Rockies go deep into the playoffs. The fact that it was the fibula helps, but I get the sense that Tracy was trying to be positive more than he was trying to be factual. Late word is that Jeff Francis will come off the DL to replace Cook.
My vote would be for Cook to be out of the playoffs if the Rockies don't advance. If they do, then it's obvious his fate is as the Rockies roster says it is. Of course, I'm perfectly OK with having no vote too since I'll be a foe of Ken's, but I don't see a logical way he should pitch.

I like to err on the side of allowing questionable guys to play, but I'm not sure how we can say that Cook would play when a recovery would be fairly miraculous. We are talking about a bone, something that just has to heal, can't really force them early.
The only possibility that I can see, outside of actually seeing him play, is around the World Series. I could see the bone theoretically having enough time to heal by then.
