IBC All-Star

Post by Mariners »

With all the injuries Arizona has endured, if the IBC were to have an All-Star game, the D'Backs would probably not have a player voted in.

We would have a fine player to send to S.F. to represent the D'Backs though.

Butler has the name and is hitting .354 with a .389/.453/.705 line against lefties, but usually a spare part All-Star is picked from a third tier team like the Rays.

Oakland's rep is probably Tom Glavine, who's 9-3 with a 3.65. It's a damn shame Mike Jacobs probably wouldn't qualify because he missed so much time to injury and is in a platoon but he's working with a 1.107 OPS and 13 home runs in 151 ABs (and his platoon partner Javier Brito is not too shabby either at .945 with 8 homers in 116 ABs).

Unquestionably Papi from the O's. Probably Aramis too. And yeah, I'll take just about any opportunity to post Ortiz's gaudy stats again...

David Ortiz: .280/.382/.681, 78 R, 40 HR, 97 RBI, 3 SB, 0 CS

Aramis Ramirez: .313/.358/.539 58 R, 18 HR, 63 RBI, 3 SB, 0 CS

Despite the miserable year so far, I think we've got 3 candidates:

Michael Barrett - .332, 4 hr, 34 rbi, .865 ops

Billy Wagner - 1.88 era, .99 whip, 72 k, 57 ip

Jarrod Washburn - 9-2, 3.21 era, 1.14 whip

Ryan Theriot - .336/.391, 6-3B, 62 runs, 27 SB's, 34/34 k/BB hitting leadoff for me.

Kenji Johjima - .310/.357 9HR, 49 RBI (not great, but good for a C spot).

Why aren't we having an all-star game? Just curiously asking because I can't remember frankly.

Yeah I can't remember either. I think this is when we normally did a division showdown instead of an AS game wasn't it?

The IBC Cards could have 5 representatives

SS Carlos Guillen .367/.436/.578 33 doubles and 11 homers

3b Scott Rolen .318/.388/.594 21 homers, 28 doubles, 75 rbi and 71 runs scored

The front 3 of my rotation also have AS numbers

Oswalt 11-4 2.76 ERA, 5 complete games and 3 shutouts

Sowers 11-2 2.77 ERA, a WHIP of 1.00, only 80 hits allowed in 117 innings

Garland 11-5 2.82 ERA, 1.06 WHIP

Gotta have some IBC Yanks on the all-star squad:

D. Jeter - 331/415/473, 23 2b, 9 hr, 84 runs, 28 SB
A. Pujols - 328/381/626, 23 2b, 29 hr, 69 runs, 83 rbi
M. Rivera - 1.71 ERA, 4-0, 17 saves

I have some other worth players too, but i dont want to have all IBC Yanks in the all-star game!

The IBC Yanks are the reason no IBC Oriole pitchers are candidates for an All-Star spot.

The Twins have a number of worthy representatives of their squad.

Esteban German - 2B - .332/.387/.424 64 runs scored, 31 steals (3rd in IBC)
Jose Guillen - RF - .309/.349/.581 22 2B, 21 HR, 75 RBI
Brad Eldred (!?!) - DH -.270/.332/.714 25 HR (in 189 AB!)
Andy Pettitte - P - 3.91 ERA, 10-4, 3 Shutouts

Targers:

Hitters
2B O-Dog: .326/.375/.538 (well, he was a Tiger as of the ASB anyway)
3B Gordon: .306/.407/.496

Pitchers
For some reason I think that every guy but Frankie Morales is above his projection, so not much to offer there.

A couple of Cubbies definitely deserve a spot on the squad. No pitchers of course, but some solid hitters.... Here are the candidates -

C Ramon Hernandez - .312 AVG, .386 OBP, .515 SLG (.901 OPS), 10 HR, 32 RBI

2B Luis Castillo - .319 AVG, .395 OBP, 57 runs scored, 23 Stolen Bases

3B Eric Chavez - .282 AVG, .405 OBP, .564 SLG (.969 OPS), 23 HR, 62 RBI

OF Jay Gibbons - .314 AVG, .368 OBP, .545 SLG (.913 OPS), 12 HR, 45 RBI

OF Alfonso Soriano - .287, .347 OBP, .585 SLG (.932 OPS), 29 HR, 84 RBI, 25 Stolen Bases

Chavez and Castillo should both be there, and Soriano is a lock. 29 Hr and 25 SB already. A 50/50 season? sick.

For the IBC Reds:

RF Ichiro Suzuki - .307/.350/.390 129H, 14 2b's, 6 3B's, 3HR, 69R, 42RBI, 26BB, 38K, 20 SB
C Jorge Posada - .281/.386/.471 93H, 15 2b's, 16HR, 57BB, 56K
3B David Wright - .314/.373/.544 122H, 28 2b's, 19HR, 64R, 61RBI, 33BB

SP Roy Halladay - 2.90ERA, 10W, 1L, 3CG, 108.2IP, 98H, 68K, 19BB
C Frankie Rodriguez - 2.43ERA, 3W, 1L, 15S, 37.0IP, 52K, 11B

Thome could conceivably make it, but he's missed time. Javier Vaz on the cusp. 4.01ERA, 112 IP, 103K, 30BB
