Sunday and Thursday database?

Post by Cardinals »

Remember when we used to get two databases a week?
Transcations updated midweek and end week?

I think that would be a great idea to kick up again. Waiting a week for trades, signings especially with Daily DL can be detremental.

You could still have Jake do it Sundays and then somebody else Wed or Thur. It would take a lot of burden off of Jake who's still a newbie to boot.

Good point, we can't do daily DL with weekly transactions. That being said, I still don't think we should do daily DL at all.

An interesting idea would be to do bi-weekly DL/transactions instead of weekly transactions or daily or weekly DL.

While this would require more from individual GMs since they could need to send in lineups twice a week, I think OOPSS planned automation could help out here. I'm envisioning an automated team-specific DL report, which would either be emailed to the whole league and list all teams, or to each individual team with only their own players, notifying of either all current injuries, new injury statuses, or both. That way GMs would be automatically notified by email about whether or not they need to send in a new lineup. To note: there would likely always be kinks in the system if the IBC player does not match up to the injury source's player (I suggest we use MLB.com's personally), though this could be largely averted if we begin to cross reference our players with their MLB.com player id (if we did this it could also eventually lead to current season real-life statistics being displayed on the planned individual player pages).

Comments welcomed.

Daily DL with Weekly transactions should work fine.
The twice a week DB (with transactions) only happened for a very brief period. I'd personally prefer to see the current changes fully implemented and running smoothly first.

I think this might be key to getting the current changes fully implemented and running smoothly, rather than a hindrance to it.

If anything it keeps things running smooth. It makes it much easier on Jake and it makes it easier to police Daily DL's, in my mind at least.
