09 Draft Date

Post by Cardinals »

Are we going with December 1st this year? Falls on a Tuesday this year. None of this "early" picking either, draft starts when it starts.

Fine with me, I'll have the system ready by then. Also agree on no early picking to avoid the sham of last year.

I really hope that we start it December 1 because I'm going to be out of the country from Dec 16-29. We should get through a couple of rounds, and I can set my queue for the rest.

Shawn, what was the crux of the problem with the pick trading? I remember that we were going to have to fix something but I'm blanking on exactly what it was.

Was it last year that the debacle of early picking happened? I recall it was over the Dice-K selection two years ago.

But yeah, December 1st is a good date.

Didn't we run into an issue where the draft value of early picks was artificially inflated because the holders of those picks were delaying the draft in order to boost the value? Did I just completely imagine something like this?

We definitely had that, can't remember if it was last year or the year before, but starting the draft on Dec 1 with a regular pick time limit takes care of it.
