IBC 2009 Playoffs

Post by Cardinals »

2009 Postseason

ALDS
Toronto @ Detroit
Texas @ New York

New York has home field through the ALCS.

NLDS

Washington @ Florida
San Francisco @ Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has home field through the World Series.

Some notes:

This is Seth's first playoff appearance and the first ever for any Texas team in the IBC.

This is Brett P's first playoff appearance.

JB has now made the playoffs for 7 straight years, an IBC record.

This is Pat B's third consecutive appearance and fourth overall.

This is Ken's first appearance since 2006, likewise for Nils. It is also the 6th time that Nils has made the playoffs.

Dan's second time and second consecutive appearance.

And last but not least this is the first time since 2004 that I have made the playoffs and third time overall.

wouldn't it be FLA@PIT and COL@WAS?

No, best record plays worst record regardless of where they are. A division winner and WC winner can play each other in the first round.

Gotcha. Can't say I'd be very excited about either series. If forced to choose I guess I'd rather not face the Buccos pitching buzzsaw in a short series, but I should be careful what I wish for since the Nats are the only other team besides PIT yet to reach the 500 runs allowed mark. My team needs to play better. Now. 21-19 since the ASB is not so good.

Playing JB in the playoffs has actually worked out reasonably well for me. Remember Mike Piazza coming to the plate against Roger Clemens in Game 5 in 2007?

I have zero preference as to who I want to face. I split the season series vs Nats and lost to you and Colorado, but faced both of you guys earlier in the year before I started to get on a roll. All the games were close in all of the series against Fla, Was and Col, so it makes little difference to me.

Quick question - would it be possible to allow BOTH Toronto and Detroit to lose when they played each other?

I want to appeal MLB's insane schedule that has the gall to not schedule a KC-Toronto series in September.

Ha, any way to have Z and Perryman play JB's Yanks six more times, to make things even?

Updated with todays results. Some big series this week with KC/DET playing, another WAS/FLA series and a WAS/PHI series. Cinci will try to stay alive while Colorado tries to hold onto their three game lead- so that series will possibly make or break either year as well. Toronto also plays Detroit this weekend, so, this is quite the week for the Tigers.

The Marlins clinched the NL East tonight and the Yankees clinched the AL East.

The Nationals have clinched the NL Wild Card and will face Florida in the NLDS.

The NL and AL West are both tied as we head into game 162. If a game 163 is necessary they will be scheduled for Monday and the LDS will then begin on Wednesday. If both Wests are determined tomorrow then the LDS will begin on Tuesday.

Congrats to Seth for pulling off a miracle and stealing the AL West. Now he'll have to face the Yanks.

Nils and Jake have game #163 tomorrow.

Also, I think Seth's run is probably the most improbable run and biggest comeback in IBC history. He was 16 out on June 24th.

You won 13 in a row to make up 7 games since Josh went 6-7 to end the year. You wound up tying him since you both had 96 wins, one more than JB had in Toronto with 95. Pickett had 93 with the Tigers.

The ALC sucked back then. A lot. It made this year's ALW look like the ALE.
