Teixeira to the Yankees. Wow. For those keeping score at home that's $400 million to three players, and there's still Manny theoretically on board. That signing for the Yankees is really interesting from a Boras perspective, because where is he going to send Manny now if the Yankees don't want him? The Angels said not just no, hell no, the Dodgers seem to have gotten their man in Furcal, and somehow I don't think Theo will take Manny back with Varitek on a package deal. Anyway, different discussion for a different post. The idea behind this one is to figure out which absolutely bullshit team will it be more entertaining to watch not win the World Series again, the real life New York Yankees or the IBC New York Yankees.

Lineup:
IBC Yanks (From Z's Thread) Real Life Yanks (Projected)
Derek Jeter - SS Johnny Damon - LF
Joe Mauer - C Derek Jeter - SS
Albert Pujols - 1B Mark Teixeira - 1B
Alex Rodriguez - 3B Alex Rodriguez - 3B
Grady Sizemore - CF Jorge Posada - C
Magglio Ordonez - RF Hideki Matsui - DH
Moises Alou - DH Xavier Nady - RF
Robinson Cano - 2B Robinson Cano - 2B
Johnny Damon - LF Melky Cabrera/Brett Gardner - CF

Edge - JB's Yankees have the real life Yankees' leadoff man batting 9th. It's a solid edge for JB right now, but if the Yankees splurge on someone via trade or FA to play RF or DH (or if Nick Swisher remembers how to not suck) it could be much closer

Rotation

IBC Yanks Real Life Yanks
Felix Hernandez CC Sabathia
Jon Lester AJ Burnett
Joba Chamberlain Joba Chamberlain
Scott Kazmir Chien-Ming Wang
Chien-Ming Wang Phil Hughes

Edge - Gotta go with the real life team here, I don't think King Felix is in Sabathia's ballpark, and cancer survival aside I consider Lester and Burnett roughly equal. I've soured on Kazmir some, he's such an inefficient pitcher, though Hughes has yet to prove anything on the MLB level. Close, but when it's this close you go with the ace.

Bullpen

IBC Yanks Real Life Yanks
Mariano Rivera Mariano Rivera
Jonathan Papelbon Damaso Marte
BJ Ryan Brian Bruney
Joe Beimel Jose Veras
Aaron Heilman Alfredo Aceves

Edge - Big edge to the IBC squad, the Yankees will have the same Achilles heel next year that they did this past year and the year before it, the Bullpen sucks. Using Burnett's money to sign K-Rod and Fuentes would probably have been worth more wins than the marginal difference between Burnett and Ian Kennedy.

Overall I give the edge to the IBC Yanks, enjoy another fruitless hundred win season JB.

I've gotta go with Cashman, since he's not only spending an ass-ton of money, but driving up prices for other teams as well, while JB has built his team through trading and the draft. And at least JB has managed to win a title since the turn of the millennium.

Fun fact, the MLB Yankees haven't won a WS since the IBC was founded.

i think you're being a little unfair to lester though, cancer aside, he's been very healthy. Burnett is a lock to miss a sizable chunk of any season where he's not in a contract year.
