The Mets Are Ridiculous (2008 edition)

Post by DBacks »

As a Cubs fan, I'd like to think I'm somewhat of an expert on teams that choke, and I gotta tell ya, from an outsider's point of view, the Mets are the funnest team to watch blow it.

I still think they're gonna make the playoffs, but the fact that they let the division slip away and are continuing to come up short down the stretch, especially anytime anyone not named Santana is on the mound, says a lot about their team and their makeup. But the good news is Omar will be around for another four years and John will have a career as a "witty" color guy or stand up comedian once his run in NY is over.

If the Brewers could remember how to play baseball in September, this wouldnt even be a race right now. but since they can't seem to play anything better than .300 ball, and their closing games are vs the MIGHTY MIGHTY CUBBIES, I think the Mets will still stumble into the postseason. They're gonna fall flat on their faces when they get there though.

kinda like the 2006 Cardinals?

I've probably watched about 140 Mets games this past season. If they had a better bullpen, they'd have clinched the NL East 2 weeks ago.
2008-2023 Mets: 1,054-1,223...463%
2006-2008 Rockies: 242-244...498%

IBC Total: 1,296-1,467...469%
2022: lost WC
2023: lost WC

I found yesterday's game pretty hilarious. After watching them barely score in the 8th, watching them fail to bring around a leadoff triple in the 9th and then give up 3 in the 10th was pure comedy.

Heard Jason Stark on Mike and Mike the other day with some good tidbits. If the Mets games ended in the 6th inning they would be 11 1/2 games up on the Phillies. If they ended in the 8th inning they would STILL be up 5 1/2 games to the Phillies.

Never thought I'd say this, but man I hope the Mets make the playoffs. I hate the Brewers, they're a bunch of douchebags

No the Mets are as well, but the Mets are old douchebags, as opposed to the Brewers being young douchebags
