My stepdad is doing some time in Iraq, again, but one of the few benefits of that is he's able to bring back some cool things pretty cheap, especially DVDs. Anyway, last time he was in, he brought me the first five seasons of the Sopranos. So, naturally, once I found the time, I got started on watching them. And, I have to say, I think it's overrated.
I'm almost done with the fifth season, and it is by no means a bad show. it's a good show, probably a great show, but after years of seeing it get award after award and hearing people call it the greatest show ever, I have to say I've been a little bit let down.
Though the show itself is a little overrated, the performances most definitely are not. I'm not usually moved or impressed by female performances by Edie Falco is fucking brilliant every second she's on screen.
Anyone else a Sopranos fan? Anyone think its as overrated as I do?

Sopranos, great show. the first season was brilliant. After that, it lost some steam, especially towards the end. I had hopes for the show when it appeared Tony would team up with johny sacks and we'd have a full on mob war, but alas it was not to be in the show. So, when it first came out, no, I don't think it was overrated. But as a whole, it does feel that way for me a bit. Still love it though, a fan since day 1. And I thought the ending was brilliant - if you catch everything. And there IS a lot to catch, if you pay very close attention.
