F'ing Men's Gymnastics

Post by Yankees »

I was totally sucked in last night...it's probably embarassing to admit, but watching that was just another reason why I remember that I love sports.

They were gold medeal contenders - and then lost their two top performers just before the Olympics. They perform unbelievably admirably through the front part of their rotations, and seem to fall apart in the last rotation. With Germany catching up, their most inconsistent performer jumps on the horse for his only event of the day, and nails it.

Then they celebrated like...well men's gymnasts. That part was kind of embarassing - but I did love the emotion they showed.

I can't believe I just wrote a post about men's gymnastics.

I watched a good hour of the Indonesia/Korea Badminton match last night.

That's what I love about the Olympics is watching the random sports that you couldn't be paid to watch at any other time. My own little protest about Beijing is I'm only watching when Americans compete, and like Z I was totally sucked into the gymnastics. I was especially entertained by Josh Horton as the vocal leader talking in their huddles like he was Ray Lewis or something. That being said, how does the guy who's pulling you into contention almost by himself (Horton) not participate in that last event? It wasn't Tan's fault he choked, he shouldn't have been there.
