GM candidate

Post by Cardinals »

I posted on one of the DMB forums about an opening, and somebody has reached out as being interested. I asked him to tell me about his sim history and why he's interested:
Thanks for the rule summary! I have been playing in Diamond Mind simulation leagues since 1994. I am currently in two other DMB projection leagues:

DMBO: a 30-team league that has free agency, a 62-player roster, and allows drafting of prospects for a farm system. I inherited a team in this league three years ago that was a bottom feeder and have built it to the point I should be above .500 this coming season and I expect to become a strong competitor within a year or two after that.
DUPL: a 24-team league that has an 80-player roster and allows drafting from all players on the projection disk. An interesting aspect of DUPL is that each team is affiliated with a major league baseball franchise. If you choose, you can spend your 1st round pick on a player from your affiliated franchise prior to the draft starting. Another interesting aspect of DUPL is that we also play a full AAA team with players in our system who aren't on the MLB roster. I am affiliated with the Tampa Bay Rays and have made the playoffs each of the four years and won the World Series two years ago.

Both leagues are a lot of fun, and I have been seeking to join a couple more projection leagues. My children are now launched from the nest (daughter is pursuing a PhD in math/computer science at Northern Illinois University and son is an on-air reporter/anchor for NBC 26 in Green Bay), so I devote a lot of time to my simulation baseball pursuits.
Given we have no pipeline, I'm inclined to give him a shot. He mentioned he liked Ian's roster more - no shock.

A-ok with me. Maybe we could even ask him if anyone from those two leagues he mentioned might be interested in our other opening.
