Trade Deadline
Shocking no one, I was pretty active this trade deadline. It seemed like there were a lot of people who were MIA. I think having the deadline end on a Saturday night hampers us some. Thoughts on making it midnight Monday, since it's a holiday?
Re: Trade Deadline
Do you mean moving it this year? Or next year make the deadline midnight on Labor Day?

Next year
Re: Trade Deadline
I liked that it ended on our roster cutoff day, but wouldn’t want it to be any later in the season than 8/31. Perhaps have it be on the Wednesday prior to or equal to 8/31.

Re: Trade Deadline
Ken makes a good point about the roster cutoff day coinciding with the deadline. I'm interested in JP's thoughts on whether moving to Monday (off day, new database) could solve that issue
Re: Trade Deadline
I'm so tired today. I vote we move up the deadline to 9pm EST instead of midnight!
PG seconds the idea.

I think I like the idea of Wednesday before 8/31. I agree with Ken's point about not wanting this to be after 9/1 for the roster cutoffs.
Next year's Labor Day is on 9/1, so I think we may have the same fate. I think doing it mid-week will always lead to more engagement.

My original thought was to add time, not subtract.Cardinals wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:00 pmI think I like the idea of Wednesday before 8/31. I agree with Ken's point about not wanting this to be after 9/1 for the roster cutoffs.

Re: Trade Deadline
My team had played 136 games coming into this year's trade deadline. Do we really need more time to determine if we're buying or selling? I think our minds are pretty much made up. I think the best way to spruce up activity is to ensure that the deadline doesn't fall on a weekend, especially Labor Day weekend.
A lot of people were active and looking for parts. I think some were scared. You get to the last three-day weekend of the summer and people understandably aren't as around as much. I don't know that adding another 72 hours solves the problem.

Re: Trade Deadline
My preference is to move the deadline to the Wednesday before 9/1. That way it’s midweek and on a roster cutoff day. I’d rather not have it later than 9/1.
