2023 Spring Training
2023 Spring Training
I figured it would be good as a place to discuss our excitement and a place to find some sympathy as we start losing players.
I am absolutely crushed right now that Gavin Lux is going to miss the year. I am more concerned about the player than his sim line this year. I had very high hopes for him and basically will just get another regression line next year.

Re: 2023 Spring Training
I haven't really been following my hitters as much as my pitchers. I'm keeping a close eye on Painter, Pfaadt, and Muller, as they have legitimate chances to win rotation spots out of ST. That would be huge for my team moving forward.

Re: 2023 Spring Training
The fun thing about sim baseball is that spring doesn't affect anything. The horrible thing is waiting on a "tightness in the elbow" news. Just waiting to see what drops. Lux was horrible to see. Joe Musgrove needs to learn how to not lift weights in flip flops...
Re: 2023 Spring Training
Spring injuries do affect us tho. Makes us all watch spring and just hope for no injuries. Except for Yankees…
Re: 2023 Spring Training
Yeah, but in the same breath, I lose a reasonable sim this year at SS. I love a year of development. I lose a year of him proving he could be a SS and not be overtaken. I get a regression sim next year. I possibly don't end up with a SS if they trade for someone. Maybe he was going to bust, but this was a huge hit to a team that I have worked hard to get barely above water and without FA or anything else...this really crushed me.
Re: 2023 Spring Training
This could cost Lux 2-3 years of projections if he is the player that I think he is.
Re: 2023 Spring Training
Maybe Ronny Mauricio is real

Have to look for an OF to start the season with the Seiya Suzuki news

Power, yes. Hit tool and pitch selection still need development. Still undecided where he winds up on defense as well. Hopefully continues to advance to add punch as a late season call up.

Re: 2023 Spring Training
Not spring training, but that pool A tiebreaker seems messed up. Runs allowed over outs recorded? Wouldn't run differential have been a better measure of overall performance. This is all D and pitching.
Re: 2023 Spring Training
Ronny Mauricio had a night in AAA tonight (4-5, 3 doubles and a homer). Eventually someone is going to have to make him prove he can't hit because he has now hit in the Summer Leagues, Spring Training, and AAA.

Re: 2023 Spring Training
But what position would he ever play? Big LF energy. And also, could ever maintain a BB rate above 8.0? I see so much Carl Everett here (for the old timers).
