I am not in the IBC playoffs ... no surprise.

I am retired and have some extra time to address this issue ... after I finish preparing for winter (stack fire wood, clean gardens, plant bulbs, etc.) I will even more time.

I would happy to work on this if provided instructions. I know some others (though they may have have as much "free" time as I do and will) who would also help.

Yeah it is an issue. I did wait out the 24hr waiver period before signing White and chose to sign the non 0 version so the other one could eventually be deleted. There are a ton of duplicates and I have no idea how to get rid of them, but am also willing to help.

Not complaining about the signing Ken ... M. White was/is just a good relatively recent (easy visual) example.

I didn’t think you were complaining about the signing. It was a good example.

By the way, White tied a Seasonal Statistical Record for my franchise this year allowing 37 HRs ...

Can we expand access to delete duplicate players, even just clean up the Player List in OOPSS in general? Seems like it keeps coming up, might be good if everyone in ExCo had access so we'd always have someone available to fix duplicates as they happen and clean up the Player List.

Since cleaning up the duplicate players and player list in general seems to be getting no traction at all for some reason, can we check if there is a way to make the search function for players a little smarter so typing in a name gets you all results that include that language (i.e. jr etc)? I am sure there is some IT language for what I am saying, keyword search or something but I am more than IT illiterate so trying to get my point across.

Is there a way I can get access to clean up the duplicate players? Been over a year since my last post and not a thing has changed. I'm more than happy to put in the time to work on this.

Also, I know it's been discussed merging the signing/trade history of duplicate players to show the accurate history of transactions but that's obviously not happening so I'd rather disregard that in favor of getting duplicate players out of OOPSS.

I'm pretty sure Jim has posted a detailed log of duplicate players that could be removed, but I don't know if Shawn has the ability to do that easily.

As an aside, it would also be great if we could archive older players to get them off the site so we just have a cleaner database overall. I don't think anyone's signing Barry Bonds anytime soon. The oldest player in MLB is Verlander, who was born in 1983. We could probably scrub anyone born before 1983 and put them in a separate place if we want to keep that history but get the players out of the website. Again, Shawn-dependent.

To save Shawn time, would it be possible for him to send me a spreadsheet or something of the entire player database? I could go through and clean it up (including clearing the older names like Pat says) and then upload it back in somehow?

People signing guys that were created in error due to ineligibility (i.e. Rainiel Rodriguez) would be somewhat slowed if we could clean up the duplicate players. Maybe one of these years...

Just to be clear here (since no one ever responds to this) I am not asking for someone to do the work. I am more than willing to put all the time necessary in to do this just need someone to either give me access on the site or tell me how I can do it (can we download the entire player list during the next roster freeze, I can make all the adjustments/cleanup in Excel and send it back to be put back on the site?).

I have also expressed interest in working to resolve this issue. Last winter I put together an exhaustive list of likely duplicate players ...
