Thank you
You bunch of extremely fine gentlemen (edited) for providing a small respite from the frantic, chaotic, mind-numbing world we live in. If we could just get some baseball chatter going, that would be great.
Does anyone think this Korean SS for San Diego (who I guess just took the 2b job from Cronenworth) is going to be any better than DUI Kang?

Re: Thank you
I agree 100%. As a few of you know, I am currently in quarantine as I tested positive for COVID on Sat. I am doing fine, just bored out of my mind (hence the few new trade offers I've been slinging this week).
And, to Pat's point, zips certainly thinks he'll do well. Will he be a top 5 pick in the IBC draft? I think he'll do well, actually to the levels zips shows.

Re: Thank you
After #1 this draft gets interesting, the GM with that pick is long winded and not as funny as he thinks he is. I'm betting Ha will go top 5 though. I've been spending some time lately with a girl from Ohio and its got me wondering which fanbase up there has it worse. Two ownership groups who A's owner John Fisher looks at and says boy they need to open the wallet a little bit. Can't believe they really traded Lindor.

Re: Thank you
I'm less surprised Cleveland dealt Lindor than I am you have a date. I thought they got hosed, though. I figured they would get Mauricio rather than going for the guys who already had service time. Not to mention, getting Carrasco, too. I thought it was a steal for the Mets.
Re: Thank you
The Mets are probably going to sign Springer too. Baseball is more fun in Philly when the Mets are good. The Mets/Phillies rivalry from 2005-2010ish was epic. Too bad the Phillies don't care about winning. Mets/Braves is the new show in town.
Anyone want to trade?

In.
Re: Thank you
At least you got Bryce Harper. Though I can't imagine the fanbase is going to show him the proper respect in the back half of that contract...

I think if the Phillies re-sign Realmuto or sign Bauer, they could be right there in the mix with the Mets/Braves.

Re: Thank you
Braves are still the king until someone knocks them off. They were right there until the end and that was without Soroka.
Re: Thank you
But that was also a 60 game abbreviated season where anything can happen. Hell, the Marlins made the playoffs too!

Not without that beautiful teal logo anyway

Re: Thank you
Speaking of ownership not caring about winning, the fact Yadi and Wainwright are still free agents, when the only thing worth going through the turnstiles for this season at Busch will be watching them, is terrible. But as long as people are showing up and spending money at Ballpark Village, the DeWitts don't care if the team is bad. At least this is the last year to watch Dexter Fowler
Re: Thank you
As a Cards fan, would you rather them go back to Yadi and Wainwright even considering their age vs getting some younger players in? I dont know which is the right way, not like they're bad, but there's also something to aiming for guys who can help them for next 5 years.

Re: Thank you
Would much rather have Yadi and Wainwright this year.
Waino has been pretty good the last couple of seasons and at the least should hover around league average. They need innings.
Yadi is declining, but he's still a franchise icon and isn't asking for a crazy amount of money. I haven't seen much from Knizer to show that he's ready to be so awesome that you have to let Molina go.
As Aaron pointed out, the team is pretty mediocre. Would be a bigger treat this year to watch (presumably?) Molina and Waino's last season as they try to make a run rather than aiming for another 86 wins without them.

Re: Thank you
No doubt. Watching Bumgarner pitch in a different uniform hurt even if he was awful. If my team is going to have some number of awful pitchers I'd much prefer one of them be someone I watched their whole career.

Re: Thank you
Absolutely. These guys have been the cornerstones of the franchise for the past 16 years. Wainwright was good last year, he'll be average and he'll eat innings. And I like watching him have to outthink everyone to get them out, every at bat is a chess match with his pitch repertoire. There's nobody ready to take Yadi's place. He'll be fine for 2 more years, let him take a farewell tour while we build his statue for him. The team is going to suck. I'll take the nostalgia.Marlins wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 8:47 am As a Cards fan, would you rather them go back to Yadi and Wainwright even considering their age vs getting some younger players in? The NL Central may be the NFC East of MLB divisions this year. No one is trying to win.

Re: Thank you
The one year run back is entirely different than a 100 mil dollar/ 5 year torture fest...saw enough of Zito wasting Giants money that could have gone into better sources.

No comparison, Zito was never good for the Giants, Bummy is a World Series Hero.

If you can see the signs of decline, you must let him go. Cards did with Pujols.Giants wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 9:49 amNo comparison, Zito was never good for the Giants, Bummy is a World Series Hero.

Re: Thank you
Depends on the scale of the contract. The Angels' offer to Pujols was stupid. The DBacks offer to Bummy was like Jeff Samardzija money. The Giants were not likely to be competitive until 2022 and have so much money coming off the books after 2021 that it would not be a hamstringing contract. In the meantime the team needs to entertain the customers!
