July 2 now Jan 2
What should we do with the international signees this year? Typically, our designation is that you have to be signed or drafted by the calendar year. But J2 is a different J2 now. Do we keep this rule, or do we make an exception for January and call the end of Jan a hard cutoff for this year?

This is similar to what I brought up in this thread a couple weeks back: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12859
I would think we would push the draft back a month to make sure there is ample time for J2 guys to sign as well as international free agents. There seem to be quite a few guys getting posted.

Move the draft to 2/15 or 3/1 and keep the rule.

I would think we would want to keep the rule long-term but specify that any international signings up to the draft date are eligible to be drafted this year. Otherwise, what JP is saying is that anyone who signs in January 2021 or later would be ineligible for this year's draft in February/March. I would think we announce a one-year (hopefully) rule alteration.

Correct. I think we need to move the draft to either March 1 or March 15 and make the cutoff to sign 1/31 or 2/28. Otherwise we'll have none of these players in the draft and we'll have double the amount in next year's draft.Tigers wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:33 pmI would think we would want to keep the rule long-term but specify that any international signings up to the draft date are eligible to be drafted this year. ok, let's move the draft start to 3/1, and the signing cutoff to 1/31.
Any objections?

In the past, wasn't the rule anyone signed before the draft is eligible? Why not just make the cutoff 2/28 to sign to be eligible?

That's all the same to me. Just want to get something out the door that 1.) includes the J2 guys and 2.) moves the draft back/
2/28 cutoff to sign is fine.
2/28 cutoff to sign is fine.
