The same people who apparently missed that Adalberto Mejia was a free agent the last couple of days. Our bad!

Question..

If you miss your pick, why do we allow you to make up the pick?

I think the rule is you can draft at any point. I would vote to make a missed pick a missed pick with no make-up. A full day is really more than enough time and the draft is the same time every year.

....because of the Minnesota Viking entertainment value of seeing the following GM's race to the podium to turn in their picks before the prior GM wakes up and figures out they missed their turn?

Agreed. If the clock expires, your pick should as well. End of story.

Hell of a draft so far for Danny...Jackson, Freeland, and Fedde is a haul. Best first round until Moncada signs.

If....Moncada signs. Can't wait to bug Brennan throughout March :)

Flying today so y'all are welcome to the queue. No thanks to Dan for dragging the draft and then taking the Giants guy in front of me. Boo! We did end up finishing the first round at a decent clip for all of that though.

The Yankees wont let it go long, once he is cleared through OFAC.

Thanks, Z. I've been lucky to have some guys fall to me that I didn't expect.

Best paragraph you'll read all day:

The Yankees have re-signed former first-round pick Slade Heathcott to a minor league contract, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post (on Twitter). The Yanks non-tendered Heathcott this December on the heels of a season that limited him to just nine games. Injuries have long been a problem for the center fielder, although Heathcott is still heading into just his age-24 season and has a lifetime .268/.346/.404 triple slash in the minors. Somewhat painfully (for Yankees fans, anyhow), Sherman notes that the Yankees had intended to select Mike Trout with the 29th overall pick in 2009, but he went four picks prior to the Angels as a compensation pick for the loss of Mark Teixeira… who had signed with the Yankees.

The next three on my board were Adams, Verdugo, and Harrison. Figured, with their draft positions, at least one would fall. Waking up this morning and reading that stung a little.

Really unfortunate that Teixeira didn't help us win a championship.

You realize Yankees fans actually enjoy Red Sox fans inferiority complex, right? Keep feeding it.

I'd say you're the one with the inferiority complex by trying hard to turn a post about the hilarity/misfortune of the Yankees missing out on Mike Trout for Mark Texeira into anything more than what it is. Given the inverse results of the last decade...

"Some of you have heard already, but I am bringing in a Co-GM to assist with keeping in top of things."

So....Where's Tony when you need him? "Things" could be considered drafting in a reasonable about of time, perhaps?

I just assumed Bren was training him to be unresponsive and inactive so we wouldn't like Tony better

Tony doesn't have any experience dealing with draftees, so the draft is solely on me. Honestly, I couldn't figure out WTF to do about Medeiros. He's the guy I wanted coming in to the pick and the guy I took and I waffled for 23+ hours because as amazing as his stuff is (and holy crap is his stuff good), he was a freaking mess in the minors.

I'll be holding up the draft until around 4:30. I didn't think I'd be up, didn't check my list before I left, got here and I'm up. Then again what else is planning period for but fantasy sports. I'll try and get my pick in as soon as I can

Hill would have been my pick, but I didn't know I even turned my queue back on.
