We can sit here and discuss/debate it, or we can get the minidraft rolling. A five minute conversation isn't going to really tell you what we need to know about a new GM.
It sure as hell will tell you a lot more than not talking to him at all, unless you're clueless yourself (you being anyone).
Anyway, the point is that you don't need to be inviting guys unilaterally in the future, moreso much the Zach situation specifically.

I went ahead and asked everybody if it were OK to bring him in because I had talked to him and been messaging him about the league for about a week. And I've posted with him for months.

That said, WTF is the deal here? I dislike bringing in new GM's and leaving them in limbo.
At the same time, we don't want to make a mistake here. I like the Zach kid but if others need to talk to him thats fine too.

Seriously, let's get this minidraft rolling (I won't have time to put it into OOPSS until like Monday at earliest though).

I assume that what's happening is that the Cleveland, Washington and Pittsburgh rosters are up for draft, with the three guys who have been asked to join the league picking.
My only gripe/request is that we handle this more formally within our group moving forward.
I think that Zach should get a shot at Cleveland though.

Should we consider extending the trade deadline a week so that the new guys can make some moves?

I would concur with that ...

I'd be torn on the issue. On the one hand, none of them are competing this year, so it's not like they have to pick up one last player, but on the other they should get a chance to dump their sim freaks. I'm not sure extending league-wide is the solution though. If anything, what about extending trading only with those teams, with the thinking that because for that week you could only trade with them, the value of their sim freaks would go up due to supply/demand. I would support that, not sure about a full week league wide. I'd probably support a week without boxes to allow extra trading before I supported a week extension of the deadline league-wide.
As soon as I get those rosters (hopefully someone emailed them to me) I'll try to get them put in.

No. We already have a late trading deadline. Extending it for the sake of 3 gm's, who should not be rushed into making deals, is a flat out bad idea.

Either of Shawn's ideas I'd support.

I wouldn't support either. We shouldn't be making rules to help particular teams, which is what these proposals are. They'd also be forcing these GM's to rush into a trade market that they don't understand or have a gauge on. if anything, they shouldn't be allowed to trade before the deadline in order to prevent them from making foolish trades in said market.
