I'd argue that none of those guys would have been an unfortunate choice. But understood...there are always extenuating circumstances.

I'm saying there are opportunities for people to get a little ahead. Personally, I'm just a little frustrated because I leave on a pretty heavy business trip Tuesday...

I understand not setting a queue. There are arguments for and against that. Regardless of where you stand on that issue, the fact remains the pace of this draft has been far slower than years past. Which I find strange in a draft that's the deepest it's been in years.

Nate - you answered your own question. Some drafts it's very clear who the next pick should be, but this draft is much deeper. We have 4 Foreign Free Agent picks out of the first 12 picks causing some top-10 guys to fall. There looks to be a whole lot of options at #17 and #19 above what might have been projected.

Also, 3 of the past 4 days have been a holiday and two weekend days. Everyone knows that most people are better at being attentive to their fantasy leagues when they are at work.

I'm on the clock. This is the point where I take 24 hours to draft, right? Just making sure...See you guys Monday afternoon!

As I'm starting to put values on players who should be available when I pick, I continue to be floored by how deep this draft is. It's far from the deepest class from an INF perspective, but it's just stacked with starters, relievers, outfielders, and catchers. The international presence helps of course, but we could get well into the 3rd round on just MLB draft eligible players with first division profiles. Absolutely crazy...

Which brings me to my next point, I'm fascinated to see where the international players go. Historically it's been pretty easy to see where they fit...but put up against so much American talent, it makes it a much riskier proposition to choose them than in years past. For example, I had Baldoquin in a group of players to look at between 78-90 picks...but Jake could have very easily just drafted a .300 hitting starting shortstop with 12 homers with him. Love it. Kind of wish I had kept all my firsts right now...though I might have already pulled my hair out, like Nate is doing.

Yeah I had no read on Baldoquin frankly in terms of where he went, but I figured there was some risk Jag would take him at 14, I like his upside more than anyone else currently on the board, and he's fairly advanced. That might go down as a historic overdraft or as a brilliant pick, I can't really imagine Baldoquin would have made it to me at the end of this round though. In the past I haven't gone with my gut on international guys and that certainly cost me Puig. Now we'll see if the Angels are really any good at this...

Zimmer was the guy I almost took at #10 before I switched to Nola. Didn't want to mention him until he was picked so I wouldn't bias any picks.

Kinda figured it was Zimmer. Tough choice, but I probably would've went with Nola there as well.

Well, its been an interesting draft now that we've got some picks under our belt. Certainly not how I pictured it at all by any means.

I've gone with high risk but high reward players, something I felt I lacked on my roster overall. I've got a lot of good floor but limited ceiling guys.

It might have been early to go international, but I liked Rondon and he wasn't falling to me at 50. I got 2 guys I wanted. Interested to see how the rest of the round shakes out.

Ken, surprised you took Iglesias there.

I had Rondon and several others ahead of Iglesias, but they were taken. With my next pick not until 56 I didn't think he would last that long. He figures to be in the majors before the end of 2015 so it was worth a shot.

I was seriously considering Zimmer, but I just couldn't help myself. A big athletic kid with a strong arm, good control and a good change up? And the Cardinals will be developing him? I couldn't pass it up.

Fairly certain you weren't considering Zimmer...he was gone by then. But Flaherty is a nice arm.

Hmm, what do ya know, I didn't see he was taken. There are still a couple other guys out there I was pretty interested in that haven't been taken yet. Maybe I'll get lucky and one will drop to my next pick at 51

Clearly there are several Mike Trout gems hidden in here. These are milestone selections.
I guess the upside of the draft dragging to opening day is if you're waiting on a foreign player to sign by opening day, you'll have a much better idea whether he's eligible. So, there's that.

2011--right around pick 23
2010--right around pick 21

So we're slower than the previous two years, but not abnormally slow.
