I believe this signing is illegal. Depth chart for the Nationals was posted at 1:58PM (EST) on 1/12, so he would be subject to Zips bidding:

I signed him when I did because he was released by Padres the day before and I signed him after the 24 hour window.
If I did this wrong, let me know and I’ll release him but it had nothing to do with depth charts. I thought they came out late at night anyways

I'll let someone on ExCo confirm, but my understanding of the rules was once the depth charts came out any unowned player is subject to zips bidding restrictions. While the depth chart may not have affected your decision-making, it may have prevented other owners from making the same move.

I’ll just release him. The timing really sucks as I had definitely planned on signing him as soon as Padres released him, I was just waiting for him to get off waivers.
Just a quick question, if I had put a waiver claim in for him before the depth chart came out. Would that have been illegal too? Just wondering.
