2017 Amateur Draft Chatter

Opening up for draft discussion -

1-5 went exactly as projected. Martin traded with me to move up and make sure he got his guy at #6. The guy I wanted at #6 was still there at #10 - so worked out perfect for both.

McKay & Wright are interchangeable. 11-20 should be pretty interesting. There are a couple of high ceiling guys that might get reached for.
2008-2023 Mets: 1,143-1,296...469%
2006-2008 Rockies: 242-244...498%

IBC Total: 1,385-1,540...474%
2022: lost WC
2023: lost WC
2024: 1st NL East; lost WC

The Pearson pick was the shocker for me. Although I really like him, I just didn't expect him to go top 10 at all.

Martin hasn't been in this league in like half a decade. Also, you dealt with Brett...lol

HAHA - This is what happens when you try to post while also on a conference call. Sorry Brett. No idea where Martin came from.

You were just thinking of the swing-and-miss lefty.

He was #11 on my board but I would have thought lower on others' until two different people asked me when I moved up to 10 if it was for Pearson.

Nope still alive. Of course in the end I took the guy with the stupid stats. Easing my way back in to the league, cool announcement about where I’ve been coming soon!

Probably a reach in taking Drew Ellis here but his grandparents live down the street from me and go to church with my mom, he went to the high school I teach at, I'm going to follow his career anyway so might as well have a vested interest

Hoping the clock runs out on Dave as I know he's going to take the guy I have at the top of my queue and I pick next.

Yeah curious to have time to make multiple signings but need the full 24 to pick, esp this high in the draft.

I guess the silver lining to an unusually slow draft is that we’ll have it to entertain us in March but we were through pick 42 last year on Feb 5 at the time that 35 will be made today.

Probably not, John. I have a different strategy for this draft, so (hopefully) I won't pick the guy you want. OF course, I am still deciding between two guys. Getting close...

And now we can tell who's been in the league forever! When was the last time someone dropped that one?

Pretty sure it was in last year's draft.
