NFL 2016
"ESPN's Adam Schefter reports John Lynch came up with the idea to market himself as a general manager candidate, personally calling Kyle Shanahan to "volunteer for the job."
Lynch, who played for Kyle's dad Mike in Denver, apparently sold Kyle on himself via phone conversation "about a week ago." As Schefter put it, the whopping six-year deal the 49ers gave Lynch is "almost unprecedented" for any NFL general manager, let alone one with zero experience running an organization or evaluating talent. Ultimately, the hiring of Lynch is probably more confirmation that Kyle will be running the show in San Francisco. Lynch is going to have to learn a lot on the job, including how to manage and deal with people, the business side, the draft process, the salary cap, making hirings and firings, and working collaboratively with a widely-disliked ownership group."
And this is why the 49ers are a joke. They bring in a coach who has never had a job that his dad didn't set up for him, and a GM with no experience whatsoever, but who, unsurprisingly, has close ties to the new Head Coach's dad. This would be pitiful if it wasn't so hilarious.

Oh man, this is gonna be an absolute shitshow.NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan plans to also be the team's offensive coordinator.
According to RapSheet, Shanahan's plan is to have QBs coach Rich Scangarello and run-game "guru" Mike McDaniel be his top assistants to help with the offense. Neither Scangarello nor McDaniel has even been hired by the 49ers, yet. It's not new for coaches to call their own plays, but it is new for first-time head coaches to coordinate the offense all week, decide which plays to run on game day, and control the 53-man roster while dealing with a TV-commentator-turned GM. Shanahan has a ton on his plate with this bottom-feeding roster.

6 years guaranteed. I'd be more pessimistic but I have John Lynch's autograph on a baseball from when he played at Stanford in 1992 so I'm hoping he's a miracle worker and that ball will put my kid through college.

As the other 49ers fan in the league, I would say we are pretty much at rock bottom, so what is the worst that can really happen? They have no offense to speak of besides Hyde when not hurt. So the playbook can't be that big unless they want to break David Carr's sack record. Pretty sure it is going to be 20 different plays for Hyde and another 20 for the rest of the offense.
By the way, there was a reason they wanted Vic Fangio back to be Def Cord...so it will still be more fun to watch that defense hold up through another 16 games next year.

"My shit doesn't work in the playoffs. My job is to get us to the playoffs. What happens after that is fucking luck."

Pretty sure he was referring to you, I haven't been a 49ers fan since Terry Donahue jerked me around on an internship in the winter of 2004!
