Hey guys, just a heads up. I really had my heart set on Dansby Swanson at #31 and really don't know what to do now. There's just no players from which to choose. I'm probably going to need a full 24 hours...
Was hoping the guy you picked might fall too.. thanks dude.
Well hopefully we're all right about these guys we all like. The 20's went pretty much right off my board, unfortunately for me, and sounds like I wasn't alone.
I'm not a homer when it comes to the draft. I took Luke Weaver in the middle of round 2 last year but prior to that the only time I'd ever taken a Cardinal before the 5th round was Matt Adams in the 3rd in 2009
As for Plummer, if Martinez wasn't there, then Plummer was my pick. It wasn't easy picking a Cub over a Card, but I like Martinez' power profile more and it's hard to argue with the power Chicago's produced lately.
It was down to Betts and Martinez for me. The overwhelming case for Martinez is Theo's genius, but after reading some mixed reports, I decided to pass. I could see it being a bad pass for sure. But I think Betts is the best catcher in the draft that would have been top of the first round had he not needed surgery. So, I'm OK waiting it out to see him start developing later next summer.
Matuella was my first target.
Then you'll probably really hate to know that I was 50/50 between Matuella and Martinez at the end. If he'd honored his commitment to the Giants then who knows...

Truly happy with Betts. He was on my short list all along. I just had hoped Matuella would fall, but both are high ceiling guys with injuries.
