Ironically it was the first year in 10 that Patti and I weren't there ... took our daughters to an indoor water park near Lake George, NY and had no idea anything had happened until Patti's smart phone exploded with text messages from folk wondering where we were and were we okay - of course, they presumed we did our usual trip to Beantown. After that over the course of the day and evening there was a flurry of messages from people who were there letting us (and others) their respective status ... and of course we got drawn into the ongoing coverage like many New England and/or runner's families ...
Next time I actually ran a race in Boston was about 6 weeks later at the Run to Remember Half Marathon (9th annual at the time) which was largely dedicated to slain MIT police Officer Sean Collier. Running through the MIT campus with hundreds of police jurisdictions represented in their dress blues was inspiring ...

If you have 7 minutes to spare this is a video that a person and friend that I respect and draw inspiration from put together that encapsulates her experiences & feelings this past year. It covers the marathon, her time working in Boston over the summer and some of the sights she took in while running all over the place as well as the recently completed, amazing One Run For Boston. She did it for herself--for some closure and as a bit of a catharsis -- but she decided it couldn't hurt to share. I enjoyed it and hope you enjoy it too!
As most of you know I am a techno-dinosaur who never tried to embed a video before so I hope it works ...
Celebrating the IBC Nats 20th win by going to Portland, ME for a wedding starting tomorrow. I sincerely doubt I'll be near a computer at any point over the next 3 days...but I'm sure I'll return any PM's.
Heading out to San Francisco tomorrow for a music festival. I'll be back on Monday...though I will definitely be periodically checking in here (just don't expect speedy trade negotiations out of me).
Driving to Houston tomorrow to check out the area and see if I want to try and get a job and teach down there next year. Won't be around much but I'll try to check in once a day
