Looking over my roster, I'm pretty content with standing pat, but I'm willing to listen to offers.
C - Avila, Zunino
I can deal 1 of my C for the right return. Both guys battled some injuries last year, but Avila is entering his age 27 season and continues to show great power and plate discipline. Steamer from Fangraphs.com is predicting a big year for him. Zunino had his struggles last year, but worked very well with his major league staff and showed flashes of brilliance in what was effectively his first full professional season. If I hold onto both of these guys, both will see regular PT with Avila getting time at DH and 1B.
1B - Alonso, Smoak, Blanks
Plenty of young 1b's here. Smoak looks like he might finally be coming around.
3B - Mike Moustakas
I'd need to be getting a good 2B in return to move Rendon over to 3b, otherwise I'll keep Moose at 3b and Rendon at 2B.
SS - Jose Iglesias
This guy is going to win some gold gloves. He's turning 24 I think before the season starts, and his bat has improved every year since he was signed by the Red Sox. His BABIP from last year suggests some regression may occur, but I expect his BB rate to start increasing and his gap to gap power to improve. He'll be an anchor in the Tiger's roster for many years to come.
OF - Colby Rasmus
Seems that getting away from Tony LaRusa has helped Colby get over his daddy issues. He played very solid defense in CF last year, and after Anthony Gose's underwhelming year with the big league club, it doesn't appear he'll be pushing Rasmus off CF any time soon. While his BABIP was also high in 2013, his BB rate was pretty low and his K rate was pretty high partially thanks to a March/April with 6.6% BB rate and 41.8% K rate. He's 27, crushes home runs, and plays very good defense (UZR/150 of 15.1 in 2013) at a premium position. I'm not eager to move him, but thanks to Carlos Gomez, I don't exactly need another CF right now (though Rasmus looks very good for me in either corner).
P - Phil Hughes, Michael Pineda, Rick Porcello, Carlos Carrasco, Zach Britton, Trevor May
Lots of high upside in that group. Hughes should be pitching at a park that isn't a launching pad like Yankee Stadium and that career K/BB (per 9) of 7.56/2.82 will help him become the pitcher we were told he will be.
Pineda mowed down AAAers last year and gradually regained velocity. Shoulders scare everybody, but the anterior tear he had shows much higher success rates. Curt Schilling had the exact same tear early on in his career as well.
Rick Porcello has made 27 or more starts in each of the past 5 years at the MLB level, yet is only 24 today (25 next month). His BB and K rates have improved each of the past 3 years and his ERA and FIP have improved each of the past 4 years. He's quietly working his way towards being a reliable highly effective starter. This is the SP I'm going to be least willing to part with, but for the right price, he can be had.
As always, value is my main interest in return. Getting a big time corner OF bat is my main interest, but adding solid prospects, high draft picks, and/or top notch SP is always great.
