The way I figure it Disney can't listen to the fans less than George Lucas, plus this increases the possibility that the "Special Editions" will be undone in future releases. More seriously, I suspect Lucas is willing to do this because Disney is the only company that has both the wherewithal and the willingness to bring the special effects power to bear that Lucas would want in the new movies. I figure they can't be worse than Attack of the Clones whatever happens.

I was talking with Bren about this yesterday and he brought up a good point. Disney bought Marvel and took one of the lamest super hero teams in comics (the Avengers) and made a really great movie out of it.
Count me cautiously optimistic. I think they could do ok with the movies, but as with most things Disney, you know they will milk this for all its worth. I feel like we might be inundated with all things Star Wars now, more than Lucas could have ever imagined.

Yeah I agree on that front of saturation, movie-wise. But what I meant was more on the merchandising, tv show, everything else front. I can see Disney coming out with various kids TV shows, toys (more than already is out there!), direct to DVD movies, maybe a new Star Wars theme park (move over Harry Potter!), etc. Now that they have the license, I bet they're going to make the most of it. They will try to get back their $4 billion worth as fast as possible.
