2010 Playoffs

Post by Cardinals »

Here we are.

ALDS:
Seattle @ Detroit
Toronto @ New York

Brett and his Tigers are the high seed in the AL. They won more game than the Yankees did. Toronto also finished with one more win that Seattle, making the Mariners the Tigers opponent in the first round.

This will Ropers' fifth trip to the playoffs and his first since 2006.

Pat will be playing in October for the sixth time in his IBC career, and the fourth year in a row.

JB, of course, will be making his eighth playoff appearance - all in a row. The only year he's not made the playoffs was in 2002.

This is BP's second straight trip to the playoffs and second overall. Of course, he's looking to become not only the first two-time champion, but our first repeat champion as well.

NLDS:
Arizona @ Pittsburgh
Cincinnati @ Philadelphia

Jag is making his second playoff appearance, his other coming in 2008 also as NL West champions when he took out Martin and his then-Padres in Game 163.

Ken is making his fourth appearance, and second consecutive. He joins myself as the only GM to bring three different franchises to the playoffs (Hou '05, '06 and Was '09).

Nick will be making his second career playoff appearance and first in the National League. His only other appearance came when he won our inaugural championship in 2002 in Anaheim.

And for the second consecutive year, I'll be bringing the Pirates to the playoffs as the high seed. It's my fourth appearance overall.

I've gotta say that I like Minnesota's schedule relative to Toronto...the final weekend should be pretty intense if we can stay close.

It's a four game series to end the year at that. Could be very intense indeed. Can't disagree on the strength of schedule either. It should be pretty close all the way through.

Agreed on the schedule favoring Andrew, but Jim's isn't terribly difficult either. Could very well come down to the last series of the year.

Actually, doing a bit of back-of-envelope math, Pat has the most favorable schedule, with his final opponents combining for a .487 winning percentage. For the record, I'm close behind (.489) and Jim has the hardest of the three (.520).

JB and his Yankees clinched the AL East tonight as did Brett P. and the Tigers in the AL Central. They're the second and third teams to clinch playoff berths and the first two to clinch division titles.

It's JB's third consecutive division title and eighth consecutive playoff appearance. The defending champion Tigers are making their second playoff appearance, both coming the past two years.

Congrats to both of them.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have clinched the NL Central with their 4-1 win over the Mets on Monday. Pittsburgh also clinches homefield through the NLCS with the win. It'll be the fourth time in franchise history that I'll be headed to the playoffs (03, 04, 09) and the second straight NL Central title for the Pirates.

Tickets for LDS games go on sale Thursday. Please register through the official website for a chance to purchase tickets if you are not a season ticket holder.

The Cincinnati Reds have clinched the Wild Card spot in the National League as of tonight. This will be Ken's fourth trip to the playoffs - 2005 and 06 with Houston and last year as the Wild Card in Washington. In odd, useless IBC trivia, Ken joins myself as the only GM to have a team in three separate cities in the playoffs. Barring an absolute collapse by the Phillies, the Reds will likely head to Philadelphia for the NLDS.

The Pirates have clinched homefield through the World Series as of tonight as well.

Good day to be in the NL Central.

Pat's Blue Jays, Ropers' Mariners and Jag's D'Backs all clinched playoff spots last night. All eight spots are clinched. The NL seeding is locked in. The AL seeding could still go a number of ways with Brett and JB tied in the loss column. Pat and Brennan are also tied.

Whoops - thought I clicked process games. Had the website updated last night but just forgot to do the easiest step. Today's games will be up tonight followed by the last regular season database of the year.
