Great pick on Myers. I was really hoping to get him with 2.1.
Are you sure he isn't? Kidding, kidding...Tigers wrote:He was my pick at 30. Part of me wishes we'd let Dan stay oblivious to the draft, hah.Twins wrote:Well there go my hopes and dreams of him slipping all the way to me!
anyone seeing any big surprises so far? I expected Hobgood to slip further. Also expected Chapman to go #2 instead of #3.

Normally drafts tend to speed up at the end of the round where the teams are drafting that typically have great/experienced owners. Of course I am used to leagues with dead teams in the middle that don't have active owners and it drags through the middle of the draft. It is always tough to wait for those last 5 picks before you get to pick.

Yeah this is weird that the best teams in the league are the ones dropping the ball. Unless we get a couple of picks tomorrow, the last four will take almost as long as the first 26.Brewers wrote:Normally drafts tend to speed up at the end of the round where the teams are drafting that typically have great/experienced owners. You know what would be really terrific? Suppose there was a feature where you could set the players that you wanted and then when it became your turn the system would automatically draft them so we wouldn't have to sit and wait for people to wake up...
That being said, interesting draft so far. I was definitely surprised to see Ackley go ahead of Chapman, and for Leake to last as long as he did. Leake was definitely the most impressive pitcher not named Strasburg in Arizona. Scheppers is also a really interesting pick because he was coming out of the bullpen in Arizona. Obviously it's hard to imagine the Rangers not giving him a chance to start, but I think he's more likely to end up in the pen than some guys taken after him, considering his medical history and the fact that he's probably better now than some of the Rangers bullpen candidates, so it's an interesting gamble.

JP'ss been in a bit of denial about that, he keeps talking about White and I kept saying "reliever". As it is, i think he is actually a bit of an overdraft at this point because of his likelihood of being a reliever.Athletics wrote:Could be because from the minute he was drafted the Indians talked about how he's going to be a reliever?
Yea, I actually considered White with my 16th overall pick. Talk of him being a reliever combined with his mechanics sorta turned me off, however. The kid does have 3 awesome pitches, which as long as he can develop some better control and lower his HR rate, he'll be on the fast track to the bigs.

Decided to take Rex Brothers. The Rockies might fast track him as a reliever, but I really like his arm, so I went with talent over position projection.
