Oswalt was placed on the DL on 9/25, is he eligible to pitch?

If he is then I want to resubmit my roster with Carlos Pena and Johan active.

Damon batted for Jeter in the 8th
Even though he got a hit, what is the SIM thinking taking out Jeter in a 1-0 game ... he was even 2-2 up til that point, ugh...

Tough loss.

I've avoided the injury discussions aside from snarky comments, but comparing Oswalt's situation to Johan's is absurd. Oswalt had back inflammation, Johan had an elbow problem that he ended up getting surgery for and Pena had two broken fingers that required surgery. ohan might have been able t pitch a bit longer, but it's doubtful and can't see Pena htting man homers with multiple broken digits.

Sounds like you guys are whining for the sake of whining.

Oswalt was placed on the MLB DL mid-September. How does that make him eligible? DL = DL.

yeah even though he did come out and say he would've blocked the pain if they were going to make the playoffs, he was officially placed on the DL.

Exactly. If he gets to play his ace while on the DL, I should be able to use my ace and best hitter. Oswalt is getting epidurals, who knows if he could pitch or not, what I do know is that he's on the DL.

Agreed. Did this rule get changed, as well?

Has the ExCo gone to a completely random, case by case, DL scenario now and thrown the official MLB DL rule out the window?

Communication would be a good thing, in these cases, to make sure the rest of the league knows what's going on rather than everyone getting surprised by incidents like this.

Game 1 will be resimmed for Tor/Det. We voted to allow Oswalt to be able to play before he was put on the DL and just missed him going on the DL

Thank you for the update. That makes sense that him being placed on the official MLB DL list was just missed by the GM.

Yes, the ExCo decided not to follow any rules whatsoever and instead chose just to fuck with everybody's brain for the last 3 weeks of the season. We really made a lot of rule changes these past couple weeks apparently (zero). Every single year September injuries comes up and every single year it's a problem. Every year. Do any of you come up with a solution to stop the controversy? No. It's much easier to bitch when somebody disagrees with your (faulty) logic and then instead of simpling disagreeing, it's even easier to call the people running the league with the league (with arguably the least amount of turbulence ever this year) cheaters and co-conspirators in this great big plot to rob Nils of a win or two.

At the time Oswalt was shut down, (Sep 16) a thread was created given the information available on Oswalt, the quotes from the player and the nature of the injury we decided to let him play. Guess what - nobody saw he was placed on the DL. Did you see he was placed on the DL? Did you check all the boxes to make sure he wasn't playing? Apparently not. It's just much easier to wait for somebody else to point something out and then complain.

It was a simple oversight by Brett and the rest of the league. It's not as though somebody pointed out to any of us that Oswalt is hurt. I'm not checking every box of every team in the league and checking every single injury. As Aaron said, I will re-sim the game tonight.

And you're quite welcome for the update. Going four long hours in the morning without an update when people are either sleeping, working or in class is really, really, really painstaking and difficult to endure, I know. But hey, next time you see somebody is on the DL that will impact an IBC race why don't you go ahead and email, PM or post a message with details about it. I guess it's just easier to bitch about a mistake though than actually contribute something beneficial to the league.

JP, go fuck yourself.

It was more than a bit odd looking after all the discussion the past few days regarding the DL that a member of the ExCo who was directly involved in the DL discusssions pitched his star pitcher in his first playoff game and that player just happen to be on the MLB offficial DL list. So, given the discussions of the past three days regarding the DL, it surprised me to see that a GM who was intimately involved in those discussions missed one of his players being put on the MLB DL.

Did I see that Oswalt was put on the DL? No, but then it wasn't my job as that players GM to check to see if he was before I placed him in my playoff roster now was it?

So it was just an honest mistake where Brett just didn't check his roster versus the official MLB DL list before heading into the first round of the playoffs? Fine...its just unfortuante that after the past three days of discussion that it happened. Unfortunate timing.

You know JP, it is really funny how you used to blow up at Bren all the time when he'd make a decision regarding the league and it wouldn't always be communicated out very well or you'd disagree with it and go off on him.

Now when someone questions something that looks a little odd that involves the ExCo's decisions or members of the ExCo you get all defensive.

Ironic, isn't it.

Yes, we could be called a bunch of "whiney bitches", but is it better to sit around and say nothing when something comes up that looks odd or that we don't agree with or that we haven't been told about? Is it better to be a league full of sheep or is it better to have GM's who care enough to speak up?

Now, I will be the first to agree that everyone in the league, including myself, doesn't always use the best tact when bringing items up or questioning an apparent change. Yes, we could all improve upon that, but in the end I think everyone having an opinion on matters is better than nobody having one.
