Edit: I also think the Chiefs have a good chance of winning their division. AFC West blows and I'm just not impressed with the Chargers.

Been MIA and missed this thread... lots of folks picking da Bears, which I find hilarious as someone who has watched a lot of Jay Cutler out here in Denver. Not only can he not win a big game, he's as close to a sure thing to blow one as I can think of in the NFL right now.

I guess this comes from conversations with my Giants fan friends. We clearly have one of the best o- and d-lines in the league. Our pass defense has transitioned into "excellent" status. Our run game has two very good backs. We have excellent special teams that never give up a big play. We have one of the best QB's in the league.

The only negative coming into the year was "no Plaxico Burress." However, if anyone ever watched the Giants they could have clearly seen the progress that Smith, Boss, and Moss made last year - and then if anyone read anything about football they would have known how high the Giants are on Nicks, Manningham, and Barden. They were also 12-4 last year, and have one of, if not the best, executive in the league calling the shots on their roster.

Can we do better then Nick's on why peeps didn't like them?

I'm obviously the biggest Manning lover in this league, Peyton, Eli, Archie, Cooper, Olivia, little Arch, I love the whole family. I think a lot of it is not going to San Diego when he was drafted. Some people just don't like him cause they don't like Peyton. If Tom Brady had a brother in the NFL I wouldn't like him, same with Rivers or Roethlisberger.

I had no doubt in my mind that Eli was going to drive down for the winning score. At this point he's in that zone where I'm shocked if he fails. The Giants don't have a stud WR, but Smith catches just about everything, Boss is great, they just got guys that do their jobs. Team to beat in the NFC

Ditto. Especially Eli, the current epitome of "overrated" in the NFL. As much as I loathe Peyton, the dude is damn good and I have no problem admitting it. Eli isn't even top 5 in the NFL IMO and that he got that absurd contract is testament to him playing in NY, not to his level of skill.

It's also a brutally tough division. The Cowboys have a lot going for them (even if they do charge fans to stand in the parking lot during the game and count it towards attendance) and so do the Eagles. The chances of three teams making it to the playoffs from the same division are slim, so someone is going to be left out.

The Cowboys have a lot going for them except the QB. I hope soon everyone realizes that Tony Romo just isn't that good. All his big plays are him dumping the ball off to Barber or Witten and they turn it into a big play and Romo gets the credit. I think Sunday night with 3 interceptions, 2 returned for TDs even though only one counted, we saw the beginning of the decline of Tony Homo. He doesn't have the big play reciever this year that he's always had in TO, he's choked twice in the playoffs, he's not a good decision maker, the media was just desperate for a good Cowboys QB and made him out to be some awesome player that he is clearly not

My only NFL predicition is that at some point in the next few days I will write about a million words too many in a blog post about the Raiders which will only be read by one other IBC GM (you know who you are) shortly followed by a soul-crushing 4th quarter home defeat to the less-talented-but-not-quarterbacked-by-herman-munster archrival Broncos on some never before heard rule technicality. I wish I shared Jake's optimism about the Silver & Black this year, but having grown up a Red Sox and Whaler fan, I'm unfortunately too well trained in pro-sports despair to not expect the worst after 6 miserable yrs of this. At that point I will return to NFL hibernation. On the other hand, since this is the first year in 5 I haven't burned money on a Raiders super bowl futures bet... maybe there's hope. Dream scenario would be 7 wins this year, 9 wins next year, and having the Seymour deal end up more like dealing Doug Gabriel for a 4th rounder to NE than that other WR deal we made with the Pats. Unlikely, since it's just bad policy to deal w/ NE.

Romo is no where near as good as the media wants you to think he is, or Jerry Jones wishes he was. That said, I'd still take him over half the QBs in this league. He played like shit on Sunday, no doubt about it, but the Giants also caught some ridiculously lucky and fluky breaks. That Witten INT? Or the TD catch that miraculously found its way into the WR lap after being tipped for 20 seconds? The Giants are the team to beat in the NFC, no doubt in my mind, but part of their toughness is the fact that they catch nearly every lucky break. They also always capitalize on every break they catch, which is easier said than done.

There are a TON of playmakers on offense for Dallas, and to win all we need Romo to do is NOT kill us. Just manage. Barber, Choice, and my current favorite player - FELIX JONES - are an intimidating three headed monster. And Witten? One of the best TEs in the game. And all these guys come before a-FINALLY-improving Roy Williams, who will never be a star but is rapidly working his way towards reliable. Dallas lost this week because Romo killed us instead of just staying out the way. Oh, and because we don't believe in defense apparently.

Agreed about Romo. Although, now that I think about it, Eli, Romo and McNabb... those are about as overrated a trio of QB's as I can think of in the NFL.

One of those things is not like the others, and not because he's the last guy to bang Jessica Simpson before she turned into Anna Nicole Smith and traded the daisy dukes for a bag of cheese doodles.

Eli (just b/c of his ring) and McNabb (b/c he's good and he wins games) are much much better QBs than Romo. Other than TO, McNabb has had garbage receivers for almost his entire career. Jackson's a nice HR threat, but he still doesn't have a reliable possession guy who demands the attention of more than 1 defender on 3rd and long. McNabb is the best of that trio, imo.

I agree that McNabb is (or was) the best of the trio. Eli has a ring, but before that season his job was in question and let's be honest, there are a lot of mediocre QB's out there with Super Bowl rings (Does anyone know where Trent Dilfer is these days?). Having one doesn't make you hot stuff. Eli is clearly no Dilfer, but take away being in NY and being a Manning and nobody would be calling him anything particularly special either.
