Open Letter to Shawn Walsh

Dear Shawn,

Please don't do this. This is the last barrier to me wasting a totally unmanageable amount of time on this league. I thought that statement to be already true until this most recent feature was announced. I also recently realized I can access and use the site from from my iPhone. These two things together have the potential for disaster. The effects of spending 8, 9 hours a day on the shitter looking at my team if this improvement is rolled out could be calamitous. That extra hour or two will be a huge hit to my financial productivity. Not to mention the unknown effects on my gastrointestinal system.

My computer is a real piece of shit. Guaranteed bottom 5 seed in the IBC if we had a bracket-style computer-off (which we would never do... because that would be really nerdy, and certain ladyfriends would no longer accept "sort of a more involved kind of fantasy baseball" as a description, opting instead to never ever ever have sex with that person again, should they stumble across a "computer-off") I have a 5 yr old dell laptop missing the "E" button and with a non-functioning screen, so it's rigged up to an external monitor and keyboard. Really takes its time doing things like turning on, and opening stuff, and getting the letters I type all the way from the button on the keyboard to the screen, etc. If I had not had my digital camera swiped in a gypsy cab mugging last month, I'd post a picture of it here to give an idea just how ridiculous it would look for a person to haul the entire wiry, sloppy mess into a room full of cracked out people shitting their pants about to take the NY state bar exam. The point being it's a goddamn trainwreck that at times takes so long to open the calculator I could go buy an abacus from the abacus shop and figure it out myself.

The primary barrier to me spending even more time on this league is the fact that DMB takes forfuckingever to load, and frequently quits while running seasons. I am lazy and inattentive, and looking at projections through DMB takes more than the 36 or 37 seconds I can reasonably bear before I run out of steam and decide I can't be bothered. I am certain that instant access to projections on the website will so limit my daily productivity as to drive me to total financial ruin. Again, something I thought already to be true until your so-called "improvement" gave me a glimpse of a darker future.

In these harsh economic times, I implore you to destroy all work related this "upgrade" to the IBC league site, lest you destroy my life by making IBC league activity totally lazy-proof. Either that, or hire me to do QA testing when somebody buys some program you wrote for a sackful of cash.

Regards,

Dan

P.S. Work harder. This site sucks. Attending to outside affairs is totally unacceptable while the league waits on an IBC app for iPhone.

2 responses:
1) Stats have always been on the site (until I took them down at the end of last season due to some inaccuracies in how they were stored).
2) The IBC app has already been designed and development isn't really all that complicated, but the $99 to be able to distribute it to you guys is probably the biggest sticking point right now. Once it comes though, prepare to get fired from your job for wasting time.

ah, right. on the individual player pages. For some reason I envisioned projections listed out on the player list, or roster pages where it'd be easier to compare them. What goes on the "stats" page on the GM profiles besides upcoming games? Is that somewhere a team's roster could be listed with basic projections alongside 09 performance?

Seriously on the app thing? I was kidding.

The "stats" page on the GM profiles are just links the DMB team stats. I'll see if I can come up with a roster page of projections and performances.
