I don't think I get a vote, but just in case you missed the argument in the "Injury Stuff" thread, Lewis has been dealing with a bunion issue for most of the season, and with the Giants out of contention he decided to have the surgery a month early to give him more time to rehab this offseason, he would absolutely have continued to play if the team was in contention (hell, he got 2 hits in his last game, so he certainly wasn't disabled).
