Re: IBC Blue Jays Draft History
Does anyone have a record of the 2004-2007 drafts?
Def drafted Verlander, Gio Gonzalez and Kinsler in those drafts

Re: IBC Orioles Draft History
Ryan Zeferjahn made his MLB debut with the Angels this season. His ascendence to the show is not nearly enough to save my awful 2019 draft class which, until now, trailed only the equally tragic 2018 class as my worst draft class ever. A reminder that even the great ones swing and miss sometimes. Releasing Smith-Shawver and Bloss shortly after drafting each was also a terrible job by me. 2020, not a great year either - go Bobby Miller! 2021, I got back on track (H. Davis, J. Wood, C. Williams, AJ Smith-Shawver). That one is shaping up to be the O's best draft class ever, though 2017 would be tough to top if Wander Franco didn't turn out to be a diddler. The 2022 and 2023 classes look deep and solid, but it's too early to tell on either one.

Re: IBC Orioles Draft History
It would be awesome if someone had a record of the 2003 to 2007 drafts. All I remember is a few names I drafted. Some good ones (Justin Verlander, Ian Kinsler, Gio Gonzalez) and bad ones (Joe Savery, Scott Beerer). Pretty sure I took Verlander 4th overall in my first IBC FYPD. Of this I am also sure - I was not the clown who selected Maels "fucking" Rodriguez with the #1 pick. Oof.

Re: IBC Orioles Draft History
Add Carson Williams and Sal Stewart to the list of IBC O's draftees who eventually made at least one big-league appearance.

Re: IBC Orioles Draft History
Updated. Grayed out those who did not make it to MLB and are not currently affiliated with any MLB team. Also, apparently I was drunk when I first did this and I missed like 5 dudes who made it to the bigs for at least their cup of coffee (and Banfield, who debuted this season w/ the Reds):
81. Will Banfield, C (2018)
114. Jacob Lemoine, SP (2015)
85. Marcus Wilson, OF (2014)
115. Isan Diaz, 2B (2014)

Re: IBC Orioles Draft History
2025 Draft Analysis
Rd. 1. Pick 18. Xavier Neyens* | SS
I'm a sucker for some upside, so it's no surprise I went with Neyens in round 1 after the player I was targeting atop my board, Johenssy Colome, was autodrafted by the vacant Cleveland Guardians at pick 17. Brutal. However, Neyens wasn't far behind in my evaluation. For 65 pwr, a 60 arm on the infield, and buckets of upside, I'm willing to be patient with the swing-and-miss early in his career. Neyens slots nicely into the back half of my top 10 prospects, and could rise quickly with a quality pro debut.
Rd. 2. Pick 46. Jaden Fauske* | OF
I was thrilled to see Fauske there for the taking at 46. Like fellow IBC Oriole Caleb Bonemer, Fauske's a Chicago-area prep with a potentially above-average bat that the White Sox scooped up in the 2nd round. Most of the major prospect evaluators placed him 7th or 8th in the White Sox top 10 prospects at the end of the season. MLB.com called him "one of the best pure hitters in the 2025 prep class" and said he's drawn Grady Sizemore comps.
Rd. 2. Pick 48. Tanner Franklin | SP
Yes, the 6'5" righty from the Vols bullpen carries some reliever risk, as he'll need to make some adjustments to start, but I think the Cardinals will give him every opportunity to develop his command to go with the plus cutter and slider and the plus plus 70 fastball to get him on a developmet trajectory that ends as a #2 or #3 SP. Best FB left on the board at that point in round 2, so after briefly considering Sean Gamble and Emanuel Luna, I pounced and took the high upside RH arm I wanted to walk away from the draft with.
Rd. 3. Pick 64. Albert Fermin# | SS
This was probably the toughest call of the draft for me. I went back and forth between Fermin and TWP Josh Owens but ultimately decided it was time to gamble on an international signee. Fermin is 6'3" and 190 lbs at age 16, so needless to say there's some physical upside there for a youngster who already shows a good eye and makes hard contact.
Rd. 3. Pick 78. Josiah Hartshorn# | OF
Couldn't have been happier when Hartshorn, whose name kept popping up around the interwebs as a dude to keep an eye on, was available at 78. Can't seem to stay away from those high-upside prep players, but I've found a lot of value among those guys in the past so... back to the well, I guess. Hartshorn hits well enough from both sides to keep switch-hitting with legit power from both sides. He should settle in as a corner OF or 1B eventually.
Rd. 4. Pick 108. Matt Barr | SP
This pick kinda crept up on me. I was tossing around Joseph Dzierwa and James Ellwanger, and while re-reading all the scouting on him I bumped into Barr again and took another look. I thought his unusual feel for his breaking pitches and superduper spin rates were a good contrast to all the power I'm typically chasing... and he's 19 and 6'6", so we'll give the the velo a minute to develop.
Rd. 5. Pick 138. Enmanuel Merlo# | SS
Fuckin auto-pick struck again. Here I was all ready to snap up another high upside high school arm in young RHP Malachi Witherspoon of Neptune Beach, FL and OOF. The vacant Cleveland Guardians bookended my draft with a second kick in the dick by snagging my guy right before my pick, again. I guess whatever list was used to auto-draft was a pretty good one. Too good. What a shitfuck. Anyway, I truly hope I'm proven wrong and Neyens and Merlo outperform Colome and Witherspoon. Merlo, btw, is another switch-hitting Dominican SS with power potential. I like to collect those. It's all about the ceiling. Never met a floor I liked more than a sky-high ceiling. Bet big win big, and all that.
Overall Analysis
I feel pretty good about the value I got here at the spots where I picked. All 7 guys have ceilings as above-average or better players, and one or more outstanding tools to build on. Once again, I'm heavy on high schoolers and international FA signees, so not a lot of expected impact in the next season or two, but I'm after developing above average players long term from the draft, not filling my utility IF or backup C spot (though often I'll gladly take that if that's what a guy ends up). Anyway, the more I read about Neyens online, the happier I am that he landed in Baltimore. I expect to forget all about Johenssy Colome as soon as Neyens starts showing his power stroke. Another quality class to re-stock the lower levels of the farm, which are probably already a bit too stocked for a contending team at this point, but whatever. The draft is too fun to only pick 5 guys.
