Just curious ...

My ex wife’s family owned land in Millinocket Maine. Now that was a hike
Re: Just curious ...
Happy Birthday Jim! I wish you good health and many more trips around the sun.
Open question- Since many of you seem to love IPAs, how do you manage to drink them before they warm up and taste like - as our esteemed French Canadian IBC member says - pine cones and turpentine? I ask because the majority of the IPAs I see come only as 16oz cans and in the summer I often find I have an inch to an inch and a half of beer that tastes entirely different from the flowery frosty beverage I started in on.
Also, with risk of getting off in the weeds, I'm not sure I have ever met someone who if they own a gun, only owns one. Is this a Vermont thing? My town has around 950 people in it and I would bet money there are 2000+ guns. It's not uncommon for people to own a handgun, shotgun, deer rifle, and muzzleloader. Plus, as one of the older parts of the country there are a lot of guns that have been passed down from generation to generation. I have a break action single barrel 12 gauge shotgun that was issued to my grandfather as a 16 year old when he joined the civil defense league during WWII. I've never fired it, but I have also never considered selling it.

They do have beer coozies for 16 oz cans. Also you can put glass steins in the freezer to keep the beer colder than an aluminum can. Either way you only have about 30 minutes to consume in summer time. But depending on certain temps, there is a point where pale ales or sessions are going to be more preferable to anything greater than 6% about.
And any respectable gun owner always has more than one.

Don’t think I’ve ever had a beer last long enough to get warm

I'm in Texas. Most guys have multiple guns. Most women have one.
As far as IPAs go, if you only like the start and not the end of them, drink lagers or pilsners. Give you a pop up front with a smoother finish. I love IPAs because I love the entirety of the ride.

One of my numerous MAGA cousins lives in Dallas and just generally stockpiles whiskey and ammunition. His mother, my 80+ yr old aunt, lives in Florida and carries a concealed handgun at all times. My other cousin (also in Texas) captained the Yale football team before becoming an entrepreneur who has earned buckets of money by, among other activities: 1) doing a shit-ton of fracking and 2) pumping clean water off of Native American land and pumping dirty water back on it. Safe to say we share slightly different worldviews. My Dad didn't vote for his first Democrat for President until Obama, yet his entire life his family called him the "Pinko Commie from Connecticut." So, needless to say there are loads and loads of guns in my family but nary a one owned by me, the proud son of a pinko commie from CT.

Truth. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in San Antonio for work and when the guys I’m working with start talking ammo and weapons, it sounds like a foreign language. They have favorite guns, eye opening for this guy from the North.

I own one gun. A sweet over/under 12 gauge. I need anything else I can borrow it from my father or in law.
IPAs are nasty.

Re: Just curious ...
I would totally be down for a beer swap. Being from New England I was spoiled. Now living in Florida there are only a few that I really enjoy.
My go to everyday drinker is called Reef Donkey it’s made by TBBC(Tampa Bay Brewing Company), while I usually drink IPAs this is an APA and pretty solid.
Zote is an IPA made by Calusa Brewing which is also very solid.
If anyone can get access to Troegs Nugget Nectar when it comes out in late January I would pay a hefty price to get some shipped to me.

Also being from New England, Houston has the same problem. Couple good breweries in Houston are Brash, Baa Baa Brewhouse, and Great Heights. There are some awesome breweries for atmosphere (St. Arnold’s, Karbach, Eureka Heights, 8th Wonder, No Label, etc.) but their beer is insanely average.

My current go-to from the package store is Counterweight - Headway. A deliciously drinkable 6.5 that I hammer 4 at a time. Among my other favorite IPAs locally are:
Beer'd - You like a da juice?
Thomas Hooker - #NoFilter
Back East - Ice Cream Man
Fox Farm - Riffle
Fox Farm - Double Burst
Fox Farm - Allora
Kent Falls - Buddy Sprinkles Saves the Day
Fat Orange Cat - Baby Kittens
Frost - Lush (VT)
