should we be consistent and allow pick trading through the end of the first round, stopping when the timed portion begins?

I say yes.

This poll seems slightly premature since we haven't actually discussed the issue.
Originally draft pick trading was supposed to end with the commencement of the draft.

To summarize: We can trade draft picks from the end of the regular season until the commencement of the draft and newbies will have their trades involving picks under heavier review.

january 4th is when the draft was supposed to start, it actually started back in november. One of those two should be the appropriate deadline. We already screwed the pooch on this once, there's no need to keep extending it and continuing that mistake.

Wrong, the commencement of the draft was technically January 4th. That has been delayed indefinitely until the first round is over. That's when everybody is "on the clock" when the first round ends.

The draft began with the first pick. We all know that not stopping pick trading then was a mistake, it was something we all overlooked and we've worked to try and rectify that. However, if you allow pick trading on non first rounders up to the moment the last first round pick is made, that still empowers that first pick of the second round with added value and it also makes it harder to gauge when the deadline is. We've got a set deadline, there's no reason to change it, it only has the potential to make the situation worse. There is no harm being done by keeping it as it is.

What's more, I don't see the point in even considering making a change to this until there is some call from the league to do so. The rule as it is, is fine.

I think that the deals that are going to get done are going to get done in time, it's not going to be that big a deal.
